I believe I first saw this offer back in October. Based on the feedback I have received their internet connection is not that reliable, at least in my area in a new subdivision in Auckland.

They've been offering this for a while (years in-fact) and this isn't a deal.

You're paying for it in the long run with expensive broadband on a CGNAT along with expensive power all tied together on a 24 month contract. For example, it'll cost me $80/mo more be with them that what I have currently got. With this, I could go out and buy a TV. With higher use households it'll be costing you more than that and Trustpower always wins.

^Agreed. Did some comparisons and they were quite a lot more expensive. You end up close to paying for the appliance after 24 months.

I have actually just signed up with Electric Kiwi yesterday after doing a lot of research. I now have a EV car and need to ensure I am paying good prices. 

I found their pricing per day (for heavy user) reasonable and per kwh as well. I have enrolled in the 200 payment top-up plan which gives me 10% bonus on each topup. 

You need to have a Smart meter and everyday you can choose a 1 hour period off-peak where you can get free power. 

Intention is to charge my car, dishwashing, dryer etc during that period..

gzt: Thanks for the feedback. I've looked at trustpower before and wondered if it was any different with internet.

They are the last ISP in NZ that I would go with. No exaggeration.

A friend of mine signed up for this deal. She couldn't afford to replace her washing machine, so it was an easy way to get a new one interest free even if they recover the cost of the appliance in the form of higher prices. 

Having said that their service was terrible and it took them weeks to get her connected due to poor communication with Chorus.

not all their plans are CGNAT.

I'm not sure what it is but their modems just seem to be turds. it makes for a poor user experience on otherwise a pretty decent connection honestly..

there are firmware changes etc that are meant to help, but as far as support teams have given the connection that i unfortunately get to touch... no real value comes out of it.

As mentioned, some plans are set to CG-NAT by default, however customers can switch to a Dynamic IP at no cost by contacting our Tech Support Team or a static IP can be provided at $5 per month (For Residential services)

Well I just signed up for an apartment I won't be living in but doing short-term furnished rentals. So I am not so concerned about the negative comments posted here since I am not the user :-)

That being said getting a new appliance was nice and it's also good to TP are actually on the forum here to help out when issues arise.

In terms of installation time, I will reserve judgement on that. I was told 6-8 weeks but after a week I already have somebody coming to install tie fibre so that's pretty good services.

Their range of appliances have quite a range of costs, from $500 for the low-end fridge to $1700 for the top end washing machine. I chose the WM since it's the best value :-)

When combined with power and gas discounts, good value for money in our area, and that's without counting a free $700 appliance.

Broadband has worked ok for 6 months just the odd disconnect, another router that doesn't like serving lots of IPs.

First few days were slow until I called up and they switched my IP (i'm guessing from CGNat to Dynamic but it worked so i didn't find out).

But already the modem is freezing up more and more often after less than a year. Slingshots old ones weren't Wifi but lasted a couple years before they started doing this! Anyway YMMV as they say. I'll just have to ask for a replacement.
