You may know that Giapo, the famous Auckland-based ice cream shop, has been a long time Geekzone supporter - we even had especially made ice cream flavour for previous Geekzone events!

Giapo is again showing their support for our community with a generous offer: $10 credit to use on their new Giapo app.

The Giapo app gives you the flexibility to skip queues and order before you get to the store - it even has extended hours so you can have your ice cream fix a bit earlier than everyone else. You can find more information in the app itself.

To get your $10 credit, download the app, create your Giapo account and claim your unique code here: https://gkz1.co/GiapoGeekzone

We have 6,000 codes to giveaway, and these are valid for six months -  but the link to claim the code will only be available for the next fifteen days.

In exchange, all Giapo asks for is your feedback about the app. If you have any comments, just let them know by emailing giapo@giapo.com.

i was initially happy to see this as who wouldnt want a free ice cream

but then after downloading i had to make a account, ok fine , its not that bad,

but to add the voucher , they are now asking for the CC information, i mean come on , dont make us work so much for giving us the incentive, at this point as i said sorry and walked off. thanks, but no thanks,

Are you sure? I've added the voucher with no credit card information asked.

@graham007 You tap on the menu and select Voucher. Then enter the code. There's no credit card required at that stage.

I also had to add card details before adding a voucher.

I provided some feedback on the sign up form being hidden when the keyboard is open on iPhone 11 Pro.

Yip, needed to put in credit card. I did it and added the voucher no problem. Thanks.

Also but weary of dishing it out, but low enough risk.

If we can't use our voucher code since it's based in Auckland, can we give them away to other Geekzone users who don't get one?

Everyone can get a voucher - we have plenty enough and an email was sent out yesterday to everyone that accepts Geekzone emails. And you never know when you are in Auckland...

With what's going on at the moment probably not for a very long time. :)

FYI,

I was able to add the voucher without adding a payment method, with the following steps:

  1. Install the app
  2. Register a new account
  3. Click on vouchers, try to add the code. It says "need a payment method"
  4. Click through to add payment method, it says "need to confirm phone number"
  5. Confirm phone number using the SMS code
  6. At the add payment method screen, go back out.
  7. Click on vouchers, and add the voucher code
  8. Success

So it seems you need a verified phone number, but not a payment method.

I was going to pass on this, but if its usable without giving a card to some turnkey template app developer then I will give it a shot. Dont know when I will next be in the city however. I try to avoid the place.

To be clear folks - the $10 voucher is added to your account balance and you redeem when ordering via the app.

FYI. If you bypass the the credit card when adding the voucher, you can't place an order without adding it, even if the order is less than the $10 credit. i.e. can't use without adding credit card.

Ice creams were really good though.
