Alongside the usual Flexibins, Bunnings in Auckland is offering 3m3 trade waste bins that will take up to 1 1/4 tons including stuff you can't put in normal flexi bins. I've checked both that and the waste management web site and I can't see the catch there, $165 all up which is a fraction of what you'd pay if you drove it to the tip yourself.

Aaaaand, I've found the catch, it's not stocked at any Bunnings store in NZ despite being listed on their web site. Flexibin claim it's available from their trade desk so I'll check tomorrow.

That's pretty good, I've used Flexi Green Gorilla bins for my last about 8 or so loads. They are also three cubes but 1000kgs. Until I saw that above, they were the best option I'd seen by a long way and used to cost $140 when I first started using them. Only went over the weight once with huge tree stumps and old tiles and they let me know, didn't charge extra for the additional 200kgs.

They take pretty much anything but chemicals, asbestos and tyres.

*Edit* just read they don't accept: Soil, clay, rocks, bricks, concrete and ceramic tiles etc. I've almost always included a bunch of that in every bag - oops.

If theyre the purple ones then they are down near the trade desk basically across from the row with the cut down plywood and arcitraves.

Cool, thanks! I was hoping it was just a glitch on the web site where the fact that they're trade-desk-only meant they showed as not in stock in the main store.

Right beside the yard exit. Do you want me to pick one up while I'm here?

Ah, just saw this now, thanks for the offer but I'll grab one later in the week when I pick up some other stuff. I was at M10 next door to Bunnings today and they have identical-function ones, possibly the ones @insane was referring to, at the Mitre 10 premium of $182 instead of $165. They're Gorilla Bags not Flexi Bins but also 3m3 and 1250kg like the Trade Flexi Bins.

Having looked around the property, in the knowledge that I can get 3m3 of stuff carted away at a fixed price, I've now realised there's an awful lot of cr*p that I can easily get rid of...

The purple ones exist because trades were going for the gorilla bags since the regular orange flexi bin needs the person booking the pickup to pay for it at the time of booking, which is hard when you have labourers etc. Perhaps there will be some competition now that flexibin are doing the purple ones, but I expect it will just be another duopoly where they just put the prices up all the time.
