I did state it was the 2019 model, so not the M1 chip, no. Even the current iPad Mini (6th gen) does not have the M1 chip.

 

People perhaps forget that the A series chips were also very impressive.

 

I consider $840 for 256GB RAM, wifi + cellular a good deal, particularly if you compare specs with latest iPad Mini, the differences in real performance would not be noticeable by most.
