Disappointed they've dropped to only 6months. The last 2 times they did this, it was a 12month discount.
Probably time for me to shop around now.

It's effectively a 25% price rise for anyone who's been with them for the last 2 years.
I must really need to go back to school because I have no clue how that math works out.
I have been with MM for about 19 months. In that time i havent paid more than $25 p/m. I have been able to daisy chain deals when they pop up. So while i would rather have a full 12months, I will work with 6 months and asses if no additional extension show up before then end of the 6 months..... I am not sure how it is a 25% price increase tho..... its prepaid per month you can stop at anytime.
Sorry my brain is in holiday mode. It's a 50% increase.
I'm just comparing comparing the annual cost (cause imo that’s the cleanest way / the next time they're likely to offer a discount).
Last year:
$25/month × 12 months = $300/year
This year:
6 months @ $25 = $150
6 months @ $50 = $300
Total = $450/year
$150 (the increase) / 300 = 50%
Yeah, if something better pops up in june/july we're free to swap to it. Kogan's Extra Large plan being discounted to $294 is pretty tempting right now though.

For those that don't know Kogan and Mighty Ape are both Kogan (AU).
Anyone running one of their sims in a modem? it's cheap enough that it would slot in well for failover

How often is your internet failing to justify that?

rarely however, I often work overnight when providers do maintenance. I have a good relationship with my WISP so i tend to know when drops are likely to happen but drops when 80ghz is hit with rainfade and 5ghz kicks in can be pretty noticable.
It's quite a disruption dropping VPN, as i'm often 2-3 layers of VPNs overlaying eachother to meet security requirements of many customers.
I run most of my traffic via MPTCP (stateful bonding), While most bandwidth goes out my primary and secondary link I'll be deploying a LTE modem in backup mode soon.
being rural it's not as simple of a setup but has huge benefits of sessions surviving drops of connectivity.
In reality i could probably throw a 20GB sim at it and be totally fine, but i'd much rather a low bandwidth (edge cell coverage anyway) fixed rate sim. 50mbit on a decent attenna is a solid rate and lets me do SQM with a reasonably expected rate.
