A free VPN you can trust, now built into Firefox

Requires Firefox 151.0.4. Note that Firefox is also available on mobile.

VPN is a built-in Firefox feature that adds privacy by routing your browser traffic through a secure proxy server and masking your IP address. The feature includes a monthly data limit of 50 GB. Firefox will notify you when you are approaching this limit with a prompt in the browser. It is available to a limited set of users during the initial rollout, starting with Firefox version 149.

Unlike Mozilla VPN, which protects your entire device, the built-in VPN only masks traffic that originates in Firefox. It's free to use and doesn’t require a subscription.

To use VPN, you need to sign in with a Mozilla account. If you’re eligible, you’ll see a prompt in the Firefox toolbar inviting you to set up the feature.

I noticed that pop up last night. Not looked at yet.... don't really have need for a VPN. But handy for testing stuff I guess.

Has a decent variety of locations.

Speed is fair, was getting 300Mbps from the recommended location (AU I assume)

They have just put a geo unblocker natively in the browser

I'm seeing "Note that Mozilla VPN is a paid subscription service." so guess I'm not eligible?

My Firefox is up to date, and not managed. I have been following the VPN release for ages, but it's not showing on my browser.

I use mine with English (GB) and I wonder what do you guys seeing it are using as language?

Never mind. For the record: about:config, browser.ipProtection.enabled should be True.

Nope. Tools still report the country as NZ, at least in my tests. It switches to a Fastly exit, but the country still reports NZ. Like Cloudflare WARP does. Some tools will report US, but others, using the browser location will report NZ. The traffic will still be encrypted.
