Inphinity:  Netflix handle it much better.

Netflix is literally 1000x the size of Lightbox, that's why it can negotiate better terms from the studios.

No device limits, Especially ones that you have to wait a month to change. It's a waste of time anyway, Everything is already on pirate sites

How does netflix do it?

Really the reason people pirate is device limits?  I guess then people who pirate aren't like most people and don't do things based on money?

I'd suggest not as much device limits specifically as having the ability to control your access to the content that you are jumping through all the hoops to watch in the first place.

Lightbox: is the any plans on better identifying devices that have connected to your service? or are we just going to stick the a PC being called "PC Computer" and multiple instances of the same device being added?

It's just one of the reasons, it's a good example

Another example: last night, finished watching an episode of Castle that I had recorded on Freeview box.  Realised I missed recording the next episode because the rain storms at the time wiped out my reception.  How to watch it?:
 - I'll watch it on the Samsung TVNZ app! - no I won't, I have BBC iplayer installed and I can't have both on the TV
 - I'll watch it on the browser on my TV! - no I won't, TVNZ doesn't allow TV browsers to do on demand
 - I'll watch it on the TVNZ app on my tablet! - no I won't, it's not a Samsung tablet and TVNZ have a **exclusive deal** with Samsung
- Screw it, I'll download it.  Took 10 minutes and I'm watching in 1080 video which is better than any of the above options anyway

I went to watch suits the other night, oh no cant device limit exceeded, and i had already removed one device this month, oh you have to email through, did that, sorted the next morning, no help when i wanted to watch it the night before.

All devices removed on the 27th of july, already back up to 3 PC Computers and the tablet. only 2 PC's and the tablet have connected. I also dont do any of the things that has been suggested to cause extra devices to be added.

Whats the point in having a presence on here if your not going to answer people questions?

are you going to do anything about the naming and duplication of devices that connect to lightbox?

Sorry this thread went cold - our Product Manager Joe who looks after the web platform has been out of action.

Long story short, we're working on a new player that should address most of the issues that Silverlight causes RE registration of devices. You should see some changes over the coming weeks.

Left field question.   If Apple releases the new Apple TV4, with has its own App Store, and assuming standard app devs rules/vetting applies will Lightbox jump onto this pronto. ATV runs on iOS.

We're also waiting to see what Apple will do with the ATV platform - and of course the usual commercial considerations apply. Once we know what the landscape looks like, we'll make a decision.

Obviously Lightbox needs to fix the duplicate devices issue if it is still occurring. I had this quite a while ago but the helpdesk cleared all devices and I started again. Hasn't happened since.

But I don't understand the frustration with naming devices. Just go into settings, select devices, click on the one you want and name it whatever you want. If you do this each time a new device is registered then you can keep track of what's what.

Cheers, B.

but i already did that, went and named the 2 pc's, so i shouldnt have any more devices showing right? wrong, went back in there a week later and there was a 3rd PC (we only have 2 here).

how do you know a new device is registered though when you only use 2 devices and both have been registered before? what you are saying is i need to check every time i watch something to make sure all my devices have names or haven't been registered again??
