Hawke’s Bay-based Phone & Broadband provider, NOW, is expanding in to Tauranga as part of its continued success in offering provincial New Zealand a customer-led telecommunications service.

Officially opening in Tauranga on 30 September, the Company already boasts over 12,000 customers and employs just over 70 staff, with offices already in Hawke’s Bay, Rotorua and Wellington.

“NOW’s success to date comes down to getting the basics right and providing good old-fashioned customer service. Small things like answering the phone within a few minutes, and speaking to someone in New Zealand, has gone a long way.

“And, as part of our launch in to Tauranga – we are pushing the service model even more, and will be providing customers an in-home service offering they can’t get elsewhere,” said CEO, Hamish White.

NOW’s unique service-centric business model boasts its own field technicians and an in-home techspert service, which is part of what sets this company apart from its competitors – NOW is New Zealand’s only telco that will come to your home and sort out issues beyond the router. This, coupled with unrivaled accessibility and responsiveness to customers’ phone and broadband requirements, is a unique proposition the big players can’t compete with, he said.

“From day one we have felt the opportunity to add value and carve out a defendable point of difference in the industry, lay in our service and support going beyond customers’ routers/modems – the traditional demarcation point for telco’s who typically tell customers to speak to an IT company.

“We believe customers deserve more than that. At NOW, we continue to base our model on our customers. The pace of innovation as it relates to Wi-Fi, IT, home entertainment, security, surveillance, and home automation is only exacerbating customers’ frustration with the growing complexity of a typical home’s digital capability.

“We are excited about helping people in Tauranga with their total digital and technology set up in their homes, beyond just phone and broadband. Whether it’s improving Wi-Fi and sorting dropouts, setting up a Smart TV, helping to optimise streaming or gaming experiences, or sorting computer issues, NOW will be there for customers who want a hassle-free technology experience, so they can ‘love more and hate less’.

“We are aspiring to help customers digitally enable their homes – it’s a bonus that we just happen to offer one of New Zealand’s most reliable and high performing internet services. What’s more, we’re even making the service available to people who aren’t NOW customers.”

Hamish said NOW was driving to become the antithesis of NZ’s conventional telco, where it saw its future as a DSP (Digital Services Provider) and no longer an ISP (Internet Service Provider).

This has also seen NOW become very successful in the business market, with a commanding presence in the professional services sector. Most recently the Company had partnered with international giant, Mitel, to bring business customers cloud-hosted PBX, Unified Communication and Video Conferencing services. Hamish said the Company’s market share with accountants, real estate agencies, law firms and medical practices was “phenomenal”.

“The team at NOW is really excited to be rolling out in to Tauranga as we cement our vision ‘to bring the possibilities of our customers’ digital worlds to life’. We can’t wait to help more customers wrangle the technology they’re struggling with at home, and to help businesses realise their digital capabilities. We just want to get it sorted so customers can love what the internet and technology, together, enables. No other company can offer that total package, and that’s not only compelling for customers, but for our team too.

“We are passionate about showing customers what’s possible with technology in the home and at work – and making that meaningful for each customer, based on their needs.”

NOW officially launches in to Tauranga on 30 September 2017. It will be hosting a launch party at its office, located at 116 Devonport Road (corner of Elizabeth Street and Devonport Road) – details to be released closer to the time.
