Hey All,

I've just factory reset my UDM Pro after some issues!

I notice that upon reset its picked up an internet connection to Now via DHCP, has anyone else seen this?

Now NZ is owned by Mercury (formerly Trustpower) and DHCP is supported by them so I'm not surprised.

They’ve been doing a migration over to the Mercury network which means you’ll also be able to get IPoE and IPv6 however they haven’t migrated everyone yet so IPoE and IPv6 will only work in some instances and not others (hence why you won’t see anything about it).

To add comment - PPPoE and DHCP is technically supported on the Mercury network - However the front line support for this depends on which ISP you are with.

My recommendation for the time being (to ensure connectivity and continued support from the front line teams) is to configure your router with the same settings as previous.

  • For NOW - This is PPPoE with VLAN 10 (Or untagged if connected prior to December 2021)
  • For Mercury - This is DHCP/IPoE with VLAN 10 (PPPoE is only in use for a small number of historic Mercury Broadband customers connected prior to the merge with Trustpower) / We would only ever recommend using DHCP/IPoE.

I can't comment on when/if this will change in the future for NOW but the relevant FAQ / pages on the website would be updated if this does change.

Thanks, thought I’d mention as a NOW customer, DHCP and untagged VLAN. Are just working. Should I be expecting this to stop working?

DHCP will continue to work, however if you need to call in currently the team may not be able to support it while the network migrations Michael mentioned above are still occurring.
