Well I have to say I love Americas cup racing, so much so that I only missed watching 2 races (yesterdays) and that was due to a baby up crying most of the night.

I can't wait to see it back in NZ.

I do have one question, that is with all the development around the Via Duct now where would we put the Teams? Where will the racing be? I would love to see a stadium finish like Bermuda but where could we achieve this?

Lastly, well done boys.

Well done. Very fun to watch. Very costly to to participate (and for what reason?)

However, the only thing I can see as a result of this is - even higher house prices.

Lol

PS can you even call this a boat race? none of the hulls touche the water

Be interesting to see where it is hosted next, If it is here or not. Oracle tried to make everyone sign something saying they will do it again in Bermuda..

Maybe we change the title to AMERICAS CUP *SPOILER* at this stage cause i wanted to watch the race and i found out by coming here....

Cheers

It was nice to hear a Aussie gracious in defeat, Jimmy Spitall did Australia proud

Wahoo. So stoked.

I don't think I've missed watching a cup match since 1995 (Team NZ/NZL were not in the match until then - they got to the LV Cup finals). I watched the DoG challenge (Big boat v Cat) in 1988.

Well Done Emirates Team NZ - hard work, innovation and skill brought it home.

Yes, I can't say I thought very much of Jimmy until today. I think he really handled himself well after the race, and was gracious in defeat - far more so than I expected him to be. I never thought I'd say that.....

If they got it wrong those things would be halfway up the Hutt River before the brakes were on :-)

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I'm a bit disgusted with what Grant Dalton said today:

As per Stuff: Grant Dalton has no sympathy for Jimmy Spithill, saying he "couldn't care less" about how the Aussie is feeling after Team New Zealand routed Oracle 7-1 to win back the America's Cup "Frankly I couldn't care less about Spithill to tell you the truth," Dalton told Newstalk ZB's Mike Hosking.

Where's your class Dalton? For all his jibes during the racing, at least Jimmy Spithill can admit defeat graciously and heap praise on the Kiwis for a job well done after the fact. Would it kill Dalton to acknowledge Spithill for the fierce competitor he's been, just once? Sure, put Jimmy down in the company of your mates all you like, but not in front of the international media. You're the a**hole now Dalton. I never thought Spithill would come off looking like the better sportsman. I was so proud this morning, but now I feel a little ashamed. Perhaps Dalton should keep his mouth shut from now on like he has all the way through the campaign?

And where was the sympathy from Spitball in SanFran when Barker lost?  Shoe is on the other foot and I'm with Dalton on this.  Not only was Spitball an ahole after SanFran but he has constantly reminded ETNZ and the media about NZ losing from matchpoint.  Its a shame that Spitball had to be an arrogant Australian but thats in his DNA.

If you watched the spithill interview he really gave TNZ a bit of a dig saying how it was an Australian who skippered it, and how Australians had skippered two Americas cup wins in a row. But the fact is that TNZ broke up the helmsmen and skipper into two roles, so the helmsman is the lead position. Whereas spithall was both helmsman and skipper.

Is it just me or the news coverage of this entire event is shocking? I just typed in Spithill Interview to try and find the above interview that @mattwnz was referring to. I cant even find any basic info that isnt 10 days old. The heck?
