I'm basically just watching for F2 and F3 now. It annoys me how the Schumacher era had so much complaining about him being dominant but now that it's a British driver, those same people are now strangely quiet and quite happy with things the way they are, and nothing is going to change until 2022.

It is annoying. Endless commentary how great he is. The car is great, that's all I know.

Is it official? Is Mercedes more dominant than Ferrari? I did watch a clip the other day, which suggests the Merc is quite a bit quicker than the competition than Ferrari was at their peak.

I agree, and absolute yawn fest most of the time. I stumbled across Montoya's former fastest lap in history at Monza, oh what a sound!

Wasn't going to bother with watching the race, but maybe I will.

Sounds like the main event was for once as exciting as the junior races.

That's tonight sorted then.

So that's a pretty weird podium at this point in time, but refreshing to see something different.
Actually amused at how excited I am just to see something different really.

I think the Supercars are suffering from the same tbh. Really hammered home by how good it was watching 1.4l Hyundai Excels absolutely going at it yesterday, vs. the tired and planted Supercars (with all their usual predictable driving standards).

Cool, sounds like a more documentary drive to survive.

Found some of my Dads slides from the 1973 Silverstone Grand Prix.  Freakin awesome to look back on.

People lining the side of the track and my Dad gets access direct into the pits just by wearing all his camera gear on him so he looks like the press 😂

Want to scan then and clean them up a bit.

Well if the latest Grand Prix is anything to go by, the mistake by Mercedes might revealed their true pace. I read the results on a BBC article that said that after Hamilton's penalty was served and he was at the back of the field, he was able to lap THREE seconds faster than any other car. I always wondered if they were sand bagging at all.

Theyve always been average if following. The party mode is not allowed now, yet they still added more downforce as they have the engine power, but they had no party mode, so when racing in the field they didnt have straight line speed over some of the other cars. You would have thought they would run the same wing as everyone else and use that as they could then pass. Off course they started 1-2 so why bother, but it would have covered off a poor start in the unlikely even that happened

This was the first race with the "no party mode" rule, and I'd guess Mercedes might be reviewing their strategy after circumstances conspired to prove they can't afford to assume they'll be running 1st & 2nd all the time. So I'd guess a little less downforce and a little better performance 'in traffic' as a result.

IMHO the problem is, F1 has let the aerodynamics get too complicated.
Indycars prove that you can have open-wheelers that work fine in traffic, but at a cost of much simpler aero and probably intrinsically slower cars.
Ross Brawn is now 'on the side of the angels', so I'd ask him what rule changes would produce an aero setup that was great in traffic even if it was slower in free air. Maybe that would include saying a front wing may have no more than two horizontal elements and no more than two vertical / diagonal elements
