And both NZ and India are down top players so its a fair fight
India, at home, on a track they haven't lost in 70 matches, a draw, especially an easy draw is a great result.
Great batting so far.

I feel like a NZ batting collapse is coming real soon lol.
Can always happen, but they seem to be cruising (touch wood) The commentators going on about whats needed to win, but NZ are not playing to win. 2 test series, India always on top, a draw means we move to 2nd test with the learning's.

Dochart:
Agree. If they can draw this match there is a chance for them to win the 2nd Test and be the 1st NZ team to beat India at their home in any format of the game.
Yep, a loss here by going for an unlikely win would be a huge negative. Innings is 2 per over, batters are about 3, both are too low for a win. Both sides are down players, but we bat deep, virtually only one tail ender.
Talk about a brain fade, first ball after tea, goes for a slog. Book in to a sports psycho tomorrow

Yes it was, Blundell was unlucky and Young wasn't out, so the result was a bit better than it was when light ended play. Ravindra is a find. Patel can defend. As Ashwin said in the post match, the days are over of the "tail"

I doubt a win in the final innings was ever on the cards. More intent means losing more wickets. I "think" the required RR was already close to 4, and the match never got close to that. The outside chance was going near wicketless till the last session AND having a 3 RR, never happen. A draw is good points, India was on top all through the match, go for a draw and a series win is still on the table

Dochart: When Conway comes back I reckon he should be batting at No 4 and Young to open the batting. For the No 5 position it should be Taylor or Nicholls.
With this draw there is a chance to win the second test. Toss will be key and I assume almost all pitches in test matches in India will be a bat first scenario. Win the toss and win the game.
Is it time for the "should Ross be replaced" thread? He looked all at sea to me. Maybe better suited to other types of tracks? The concern is he holds back up and comers who are the future
