JPNZ:

Knowing the Ferrari speed on launch I took the NZ TAB up on their first lap leader offer. Any other car other than 1/2/3 paying $4.25 thank you very much Charles

Got the TAB again. Took 3rd place ($2.50) and won again. Ferrari really are the masters of starts.

To me the race was between 4 cars.

on lap 24, Bearman, the best of the rest was 14s down (0.5s per lap slower) and Lawson was 24s down (1s per lap slower).

Good to see the Ferrari’s racing each other (and a few others further down the order)

I can't decide who to support this year.

I would like Lewis to come good with the new Ferrari and challenge for the championship.
It was great to see him going wheel to wheel with Charles.

I feel a great deal of sympathy for George Russell who has always been an outstanding driver, outperforming in underperforming cars.
He moved to Mercedes at the point where the cars went from championship leaders to not quite good enough.
Now he finally has a car, his new teammate is showing dangerous signs of outperforming him.
Is he to lose his chance at being World Champion?

I feel similar sympathy for Oscar, pipped to the championship last year and now in the new design looking as though he won't have a chance to challenge this year.
Still, he has years ahead of him.

I think it will be George, although it is tempting to support Kimi as the new superstar charging up through the different formulas at an amazing rate and then winning in F1.

I have a little sideline support for the Racing Bulls.
I want to see them match and  hopefully beat the Red Bull cars.
Also a big cheer for Liam.

Kimi likely to do crash a bit in combat I suspect.  He did well this race mostly by staying way out the front.
Has been a bit rookie ish at times when back in the thick of it.

Has talent though for sure.

Had high hopes for Aston but basically lucky if they can start the race.  Total flop this year, and Newey is just not team principle material.  Seems Honda is a distant memory of what it has been, and comms between the two not managed well/weren't aware of the poor product on offer until very late.

So glad to see Lewis up there again, and hopefully they can take it to Mercedes, but don't think that's happening until later when the engine compression levelling thing kicks in.  Merc seem like clear winners 95% of the time at the moment.

McLaren a low 3rd playing just above hASS / Alpine / Red Bull / Racing Balls etc

A little bit of Aston Martin F1 News this morning.

A couple of outlets reporting that Adrian Newey will step down as Team Principal at Aston Martin F1 team to focus exclusively on the technical troubles Aston are having so far this season.

Aston are said to be targeting Audi team boss Jonathan Wheatley

Practice 1 starts in 2 hours. Really looking forward to see what Liam can do this weekend.

Disappointing quali by Liam, to be 4/10 behind Lindblad in Q2 shows he must have had a lockup or oversteer moment

Kimi is a beast, he has eliminated his regular rookie errors, and has dominated

George complained about car issues, I dont buy that, I feel he is overdriving due to Kimi pressure. He had enough purple and close sectors to show the car was there.

Audi were awesome, no fluke.

Oscar looks good, and while Lando lost track time, Oscar looked strong

Liam had a damaged front wing in Q2 (and they're not sure how it was damaged) which they replaced. It sounds like the replacement wing did not have the same settings as the original... which is a motorsport101 fail 🤦‍♂️

Definitely more dangerous this year.

Cars charging are running much slower when they’re harvesting to charge the battery. The speed differential to someone racing full speed and not recharging at the same point on track is crazy. Seeing same at the starts where some cars are much slower off the line.

Frankly it’s looking like Mercedes 1&2 each race.

They are slow off the line though so gives some almost artificial action against other teams before they catch back up and pass a few laps later.

Another fun race, plenty of action.

Kimi is a beast lol. Safety car benefit, like others but he so is rock solid, given his lack of age and experience.

Oscar also rock solid and unlucky.

Liam 9th, say no more, well deserved

Ferrari lack of team orders, great.

A bit of compression with the top three teams, with the war gap, expect that to close.

George will be well worried now. Like Lando and Oscar last year, the new guy has some skills and the same good car too.

Nice to see some consistency from Mr Lawson.

Interesting to see that even though Verstappen was driving a supposedly undriveable car, he was still a fair way in front of his nearest follower (Lawson).

Despite that, a disappointing outing for him and his team, no doubt.

What an incredible result for young Antonelli though...two in a row.

He even said he should have won due to safety car.

Lets make that 2nd to Oscar
