Look at it this way - Kimi has this lead after 5 rounds.  There are 17 rounds to go (or 19 if they replace the lost events). 43 points is two Kimi DNF's (or out of the points) and a 1st and 2nd for Russell.
Still a very long way to go!

Batman:

Jaxson:
Russel in a lot of trouble now.  Can't argue with 4 race wins in a row by your (very young/inexperienced) team mate!
Saving grace for the rest of the field is these two are likely to take each other out.

the only 2 people in the 21st century that have overturned the points deficit that Russell has are Seb and Max

Agree, but...

Kimi is faster, pure and simple. Mistakes yes, but not too many. George being very solid and reliable probably wont cut it

Is it that pure and simple? In the last race they both seemed to be arriving at corners at the same time usually with Kimi out of shape.

As I said Kimi can make mistakes, but as for pace, he is faster. That helps in the race and helps in quali

Monaco race next and a mid season rule change will outlaw the Mercedes engine compression trick.
Tests will now be conducted hot and cold, so they can supposedly no longer achieve a higher compression ratio during race conditions.

This affects McLaren, Alpine, and Williams as Mercedes engine customers.
Concerns are though that the hot test still isn't hot enough to mimic race conditions, and also we don't know how much of a difference this aspect is actually making.  Mercedes are well clear of the rest of the field and appear to have enough extra capability to easily absorb a few rule knock backs.

👜 Also Alpine has a sponsor of Gucci, so expect that team to be looking good uniform wise at least 🤣

And the Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities round is coming up for poor performing engine teams.

r/formula1 - What is the ADUO, and which manufacturers may benefit?

It seems George was over driving the car...Kimi was able to make coax the maximum potential out of the car without breaking it...

It's a long season to go, but it does seem like Kimi's got this in the bag... Anyone else that comes close suffers from premature failure of their car..

The team are saying the battery failed with possible heat damage. How does that become a driver issue?

Max

Well, pretty impressive, although to be fair, Hadjar was good too, so Monaco removes some of Red Bulls issues.

Kimi

Could he be the next Max? Given his low age and low experience and he is having strong and solid George for breakfast.

Im picking Max in the race. If he lead at turn one, game over (aside from yellows, VSC and Red Flags that got in the way.

If Kimi lead turn one, Max will apply non stop pressure, and Kimi is liable to falter there

Liam again good. Dominates Arvid. Racing Bulls were best of the rest, but I feel Audi is now, plus Haas can appear at any time, plus Gasly in Alpine.

Monaco is a drivers track, need to be precise, but overall stay on the black stuff

TAB

Kimi at 1-44 and Max at 3-40 seems odd

Liam doing really well.  Like seriously he's doing well this year.

Kimi has fully lucked into a dominant car/team.  Mercedes are significantly number 1 (have won everything this season) but the racing closeness in the teams below has kept the attention away from that situation so far.  Hopefully it continues to be entertaining.

I love that George, despite being in the mother team with the fastest car, is being out done by his team mate... His defacto #1 driver was during the ground effect cars when Lewis hadn't adapated but the car wasn't competative and now that it is again, his team mate is pulling the shots.  I get behind all british drivers, except George - can't place it but I just think hes too whiny and that's saying something given the volume of whiny brits in the sport.

What a crazy race. Liam once again keeping his nose clean and escalating from 10 to 5 - excellent work - faultless driving on his part. However AFAIAA there was not one driver improved his position by overtaking - place changes came only from retirements (seven of them) and time penalties.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

After the start the race was over, no Max vs Kimi. But while I'm not a betting person much, I couldn't pass the 3-40 for Max to win... but while I was there, a reasonable flutter on Liam for points scoring and top 6 (12-50), well its Monaco, crashes happen, so the latter part was exciting

George is unravelling.

Lindblad was lucky, 33 sec behind Liam PLUS he hadn't had his pitstop
