Match point lads!
Fred99:What a race!
Neck in neck racing, seconds between us on each mark, then they let his have the right shift and again, when in front we race away. When we are behind, being covered off, we still nip at their heels, thats the difference. Open track, goodbye
Bruni said elbows out a few times, as he did last night in the press conference. Tells me that they are resigned to we can only win if we have the elbows out, they are too fast. If the elbows aren't wide enough, the results keep repeating, open air blowout to TNZ
Wind has dropped to 8 knots and shifted, both boats have different (bigger) headsails sitting on their foredecks.
Time to shift to the big TV room, crack open a beer, and enjoy this next race whatever happens. Dinner can wait.
Lighter winds, 9 knots max. And dropping. Luna Rossa has a larger gyb, Team NZ one size smaller. That gives us more speed once up due to less drag, but less acceleration.
Postponed 10 minutes to 5-55pm
Dang, remember the 6pm last start time, they still have to shift the marks.
Yeah
The back is still up against the wall though.
Oblivian: And there goes the mental advantage
I am glad they canned it until tomorrow, good wind should make for an awesome final (perhaps).

TV1 news looks like they were fully setup for us winning it today
DjShadow beat me to it!
TVNZ all setup for it to be done and dusted. Simon in his suit on the waterfront. 25 past six and they are still going. With the match point race won they probably dumped the rest of today’s news!

TVNZ’s coverage of Americas Cup on One News tonight is crazy. They had obviously sent their reporters and crews to all the usual-suspect locations - eg. Peter Burling’s childhood yacht club - just in case we won today.
So they spent 90-odd% of News covering AC, exactly if we had already won. I guess they didn’t want to waste the cost of the deployment and were determined to use it. So they crossed to all those reporters and they got some mileage from that deployment even if, God forbid, we go on to lose. It’s happened before.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a massive AC fan and certainly wouldn’t object if we had won the AC today but FFS this is ridiculous. Was there no other news in NZ and around the globe today? The rest of the news got less than five minutes coverage. If we had won, fair enough - but we haven’t (yet).
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
