Although has anyone realised that if you click on "For all Sky Sport channels click here" on their splash screen vs "For all other catch up TV click here" and then click on Live TV at the top, they are two different players? So perhaps they split the load.

They're both flash based though aren't they?

Yes they are. Both need me to turn on Flash. Why aren't they using HTML5 video players? Does only Flash allow them to set restrictions on how many simultaneous streams one can access etc..

Because that would require investment in something that isn't "sell the users a decoder box"

I was using Apple TV when I had issues.
Whatever internet streaming service subscribers have access too, we used that at the weekend (friends staying) and it was faultless.

Rugbypass was superb last night.
My only comment would be that the frame rate does not seem quite as smooth as broadcast tv. Especially on fast moving action which is quite often with rugby.
I find the stream is much better via chromecast than via laptop
When the laptop is connected to the TV you notice what appears to be the odd frame drop, a little skip now and then.
When streaming via the chromecast connected to the same TV it appears much smoother.
I suspect the the play back problem on the laptop is the fact it uses flash.
