Im having an early night, ill watch the last 30 mins of the pre race, then hit the recorded race at 5am

It's tough but some one has to do it lol

Picks, Kimi, Lewis and Charles

Liam 9th, may get better if any top 4 team dramas.

Yes, it looks like Lawson & Lindblad are "natural" 9th & 10 place getters a.t.m.
To do any better, either somebody from a Big Four team has to crash or otherwise DNF, or something weird has to happen - e.g. unforecasted rain - and Racing Bulls have to make an inspired strategy call at exactly the right moment

I'm impressed with Liam, bias aside. Annecdotally he is 3/10 up on Lindblad every session, that closes in, then he is on top in Q3. This race he was well off so clearly a one lap issue.

Lawson has been smoking Lindblad for the most part this weekend, three tenths plus almost everytime as you say. Makes his "poor" outcome in Qualifying a bit of a mystery. His fastest lap was in Q1 and he went slower from then on. Hopefully it was an issue with the car, maybe the floor, as Lawson was suddenly complaining about a loss of balance.

Anyway, still starting P10 and perhaps not the worst position to have Lindblad directly in front so Liam can see where the opportunity to get past him is in the first few corners. Provided the team can solve the issue that Lawson had in qualifying, you'd have to think he will be able to get ahead of Lindblad and pull away from him as the race progresses.

Tsolov won the F2 Feature Race so he is also on fire. Is going to be hard to keep him out of a seat in F1 next year unless Red Bull wants to send him to Super Formula, or a second season in F2 if he doesn't manage to win it this year. Assuming Lawson keeps kicking Lindblad this season then the most likely outcome is the status quo for next year.

I don't imagine Red Bull will want to sack Lindblad at the end of the year, even if all his champions at Red Bull are now gone. They will want to give him a bit longer to see if he's got what it takes but you can see a change mid-season next year if Lawson keeps besting him.

I couldn't make myself get up at 2am as Ive been sick all last week with flu. Recorded it and got up at 5:45am and watched it. Great race, really felt for Kimi he had that in the bag but goon on Charles winning at Silverstone for his first time.

Great work and 6th place for Liam, good haul of points. Lewis will be gutted he lost 2nd due to pitting and the SC never came in. Good for Russel though!

Lawson in a bit of a perfect situation at the moment, faster than his team mate, faster than the competition from other teams behind so best of the rest, clearly a long way behind those up ahead. So, able to bag points fairly consistently if you just keep your head down.

Surprised how poor McLaren were today. Top is still Mercedes, but Ferrari are much closer and ready to pounce if anything goes wrong there. Kimi has it over George, that's a bit of a soap opera playing out there for George, wake up call etc. Max right up there still in the Red Ball, but his car showing real design / setup issues at the moment leading to that crash.

@tdgeek Max to Merc or McLaren does seem more on the cards, especially seeing how this season is playing out for Max. I guess with all the changes there in personnel and his Race Engineer moving next year from memory(?) it's feeling less like it once was there.

New regs really have shuffled the field up, glad Lando won last year as nowhere near this year. The push for last years improvements with Red Bull and McLaren do look to have impacted this years designs.

I hear bunch of Newey upgrades coming in Hungary, so two race times. Types of changes they're saving up for big deployment all at once, and likely to put Aston Martin back into the mid field. Embarrassing for them just puttering around at the back now still.

Separately I see Scott Dixon's is leaving Chip Ganassi Racing after 25 years there.
Still staying in the sport, but moving to a another team, which could also start off some silly season team driver line changes by the sounds of it.

McLaren won the WCC and will have GP, but while not a one hit wonder, they are a bit off the pace

Mercedes dominated everything but battled in the ground effect era, now back on top. You get the feeling that they will always be there or climb back if in minor doldrums. If Max wanted 9 WDC's that's the way to go

Max and Kimi, yeah that's worth at least a dollar each way lol. It will be a dream Team, with time to school up the next in line.

Dixon going to Mclaren (Indycar still). But as Mclaren also have WEC endurance team (and a golf brand!) this must have been a big + to that contract, not that he needs anymore money, but gives him a stable driving career after indycar

Belgian GP this week, Lawson was strong last year with 8th place. Be great to see his run of points continue. Current form would suggest 9th or 10th if no one in front doesn't finish. Sounds like Racing Bulls have some aero upgrades coming for this weekend.

Interesting to see if Ferarri can crack their power deficit with trimming the chassis, Merc will be strong but reliability(?), McLaren may do better if they've got the latest PU but again Mercedes HPM reliability could be a problem... Redbull should be fast if they've got the weight out of the car, but their macarena wing may be a problem and require a different approach, especially at the end of the Kemmel Straight into Les Combes when high speed air needs to reattach to the wing.

Best circuit on the calendar IMHO, really disappointing that they're looking to move it to every second year at some stage. Hope Lawson can continue his top run of form and results, and continue pressing his claim to remain somewhere at Red Bull next season.

Merchandise - great to finally see some Lawson merch being produced by Racing Bulls. The Barcelona special edition football shirts have now sold out as far as I can see, though still plenty of Lindblad shirts available. Assuming they started with equal numbers for both drivers then that's another place Lawson has given him a kicking.

If you're wanting to show your support, there are caps and beanies with his number on currently available for pre-order at the official store. Expected delivery in mid-August, a spend of 100 Euros or more will get you free shipping to NZ (30 Euros otherwise). Will perhaps become available through other outlets in due course.

Yep, 9th or 10th as they are heading to the best of the rest status. During FP sessions, sometimes Audi are there, often Gasly is there, but when it counts, they arent.
