I see Israel Folau is at it again:
Fire and droughts in Australia are God's punishment
Religious people who self-appoint themselves as a god's spokesperson piss me off. If these naturally occurring events were truly a god's punishment, that god can grow a set of balls and announce it himself.

Best tweet I have seen on his latest outburst:
Israel Folau is our punishment for ignoring climate change.
He is playing to an audience and the stupid press are giving him a stage. He is of course allowed his deluded views as are those who disagree with him. If he is simply ignored he gains nothing.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
Unfortunately there are a fair number of people who share those views.

That is true of many things like believing the world is flat, ancient aliens, santa claus, Abel Tasman discovering New Zealand.....

Apparently the flat earth cult is gaining acolytes at an alarming rate. There seems to be a worldwide trend underway to reject science and embrace barbarianism. Before long we will all be dancing around maypoles and sacrificing virgins to placate the 5G gods.

People prefer to believe some random person on YouTube than a presentation or lecture by a PhD. They trust a rugby players opinion over that of a climate scientist or the average 6 year old. They cannot believe all the evidence of the Globe, space and moon landings because they cannot see it, touch it or experience it themselves but explicitly believe in an unseen, untouched or unproven deity.

If you blame it on god (or any other deity), it resolves you of any responsibility, or any responsibility to do anything about it. Because it is not your fault.
Well now, since he no longer works for a notable sports team, he's just some guy.
I put his opinions in the same basket as the people who sometimes hang out by the train station handing out pamphlets - not very important to me.
Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

Fixed that for you. :-)

Note that I respect The Bible, and I respect religions. There is more than one religion so which one is correct?
i think the problem is about zealots not only declaring themselves correct, but also that everyone else is wrong.
My new favourite tweet ...

everytime this sort of debates pop up, you don't know how lucky that we have free speech here. anyone wants to try this sort of debate in Saudi / China ... be my guest ...
