Blackcaps will definitely bat again at this rate. They always seem to find a way to lose from a winning position.

How about our ladies making it to the T20WC final? :-)

I 100% believe Women can compete on normal grounds with both technique and will power, score 7-9rpo avg and bowl 130kph +. I think Macca will help our team with the batting, would be great to see Bondy working with Lea and the Penfold ladies and other nasty fasties to get them truly nasty. Bondy I think it was when he got Trent and Tim 7kph+ faster consistently during there golden period. You have to WILL to bowl fast, it hurts and its not easy. Lockie says similar things about his blistering speed.

Back to the Test.

What a ball buy GP at the end, he needs to be on that line more often.

I honestly think in SEa we need 4 spinners and 2 quicks. For me I would have selected Bracewell over Southee, Then you have another GP like aggressive middle-tail batsman who would be 3rd string spin taking the pressure off Rachin who is handy but not quite GP/Bracewell. Patell took wickets but at 6rpo, that needs work.

If we can knock over the middle order cheap, at most I would expect to chase 100, but I expect Pant etc to start swinging with a loss in sight. Khan is clearly the big wicket, but if we can get some in pairs, that 100 lead we have could look a long way off for Ind, conversely if GP and Patel fail to get in roads we might start getting nervous if we have to chase 250. The quicks will get some overs in and our spin will take us to the new ball, hopefully 7 down.

Match is perfectly poised.

This is not looking good. Complete flat track. NZ need wickets and real quick. Ind could put on a 300run lead with a day to bowl NZ out etc..

Those look like really big bugs flying around all over the place.

Must be distracting.

Can we get 107 runs in a day? Surely we can win from here!

We SHOULD win from here, but what about the turnaround with the new ball. I thought Ind were on the way to get 650. Then the new ball, O'rourke and Henry amazing. First for our bowlers to get the two big wickets and then to get the final 6 wickets for 28, nearly a hat-trick in that collapse. I did think the new ball could blow them over, I just didnt exect them to score so quickly up to that point.

Imo our batsmen should play super aggressive with their pace bowlers, 60 runs off the first 10-12 overs and its pretty much game over. The spin is what we are not great against for obvious reasons, although its at a higher level domestically in NZ now, who knows, we might have well balanced batsmen one day

It’s going to be interesting what will happen in the next test if Williamson is fit to play.

I think Will Young performs much better outside of NZ & England and should not be dropped for this series

Would have been nice to see Will Young be fed or farmed the strike for the 50. :-)

awesome team performance.

although NZ got lucky day one being asked to bowl. I think Ind showed than can put on 450 a day on the right pitch.

lets hope our bowlers can get to the middle-tail quickly the next innings, which could be a series decider if they can..... but realistically Ind is full of class players, so its a tough ask for us there.

Toss will be a key factor for the next 2 test matches. We were pretty lucky this time that we played in Bangalore and Day 2 of the test match it was cloudy so Henry and O’Rourke utilised the conditions. I thought the pitch would have started to deteriorate when we batted second but it has held up well due to the rain and being under covers. I can’t imagine if it didn’t rain and no covers how the pitch would of played for 5 days. We probably would have loss. Rain did NZ a big favour.

In the shorter forms of the game you usually bowl first in Bangalore but I’m guessing test pitch plays different compared to ODI & T20

If we can win the toss and bat first for the next 2 games we could potentially win this series or cause a whitewash and win 3-0. Is this the Blackcaps time of winning a test series in India.

Precisely. I didnt want to sound too negative after quite a historic win and the bowlers coming back ~400/4 to bowl the final 6 for 28, that and the start of day two were amazing spells of bowling from our seamers. But the reality is weather and not winning the toss did us some massive favours.

I too still hold a glimmer of hope for an Ind Test Series win, Id be very happy with a draw even, but would suck to lose the last 2 and with Ind Test cricket stating they are now aiming at 400+ per day, its either bowl them out or they do win. So tempted to say drop Southee for Bracewell, but he did take a couple of wickets and that partnership with Rachin was as critical as any other part of our success. Will need to assess the next pitch first, but Bracewell doesnt avg a lot more with the bat than Southee (although MB has a significantly better FC and ODI avg) and only slightly better spinner than Rachin.......
