Yuki beating Danny again (although the car is not flash this weekend) and Perez performing poorly again.
My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
Jaxson: Pack really closing up this year and a good qualifying.
Note Red Bull has used up the last of their engine replacements already, or something like that.
Will lead to grid drop penalties now if needed again this season.
Through FP, the top 5 were super close, but in Quali RBR and McLaren were clear of Mercedes and Ferrari. As Max got a two, to me, McLaren are the best on this track, a RBR favoured track.
Re engines, RBR need to be strategic how they use what they have. Seems early that they have run out?

Poorly is arguable to be fair. The whole pack are so close, one commentator said a record of some sort? VCARB are running very good times, but fed spread is so little that you can go from 8th to 16th easily. Tight margins. But yeah, possibly others have increased their cars a teeny bit more. They had upgrades too I think

Yeah the second McLaren is out of order for sure, just couldn't pull a single lap together when it counted, twice.
Definitely early in the seasons to be maxing out likes of engines.

Apparently RB sacrificed Perez's last run to aid Verstappen and give him a tow; with a 3 place penalty already in place they probably figured that there was noting to lose for Perez and a place to gain for Verstappen.
Happy to see the top 7 so close in times. Be interesting to see how the RB handles the kerbs during a race session compared to the other cars which appear to be more compliant.
My result picks
Lando I feel he has the best car
Max He has a very good car, McLaren has caught up, but still a nice enough gap ahead of the others
George, he has upped his game, and Mercedes now seem solid everywhere
Lewis Has a solid Mercedes.
Oscar. Bit of a hope here that his better car gets him past the great or not great Ferrari's

Curbs are quite benign at this track.

Yes but they still need to ride them to extract the fastest time. Hopefully they don't do anything but the stiff suspension appears to be a blessing and a curse for RB this season.

"Not flash" is a bit of an understatement given how many upgrades they have brought to Spain. VCarb must be gutted at their qualifying result.
Perez and Ricciardo must be giving Red Bull some headaches.
Pecking order is now very clear. Max and Lando are by themselves, in any order, Mercedes next
McLaren was better in the race, but RBR ran a better strategy, although the start was key that Lando wasnt great, but he was still there. Strategy won the day. Piastri disappointing, George was good, but hards ended it, Perez BAU
Two horse race from here on
This track has seen a lot of drivers losing their cool. Lando's start was too aggressive, forcing Max onto the grass. That wasn't great to see. Lando hasn't been great with the starts overall really. Good to see McLaren trying something different with the strategy and keeping their eyes on Max rather than cover off the Mercedes. Interesting to hear Lando had full confidence he'd be able to pass them to get back up to Max. In the end a second behind first and second is very impressive. Oscar and Perez were no help as wingmen, only Perez during qualifying. Merc's and Ferrari too had both cars together up the front.
Don't think anyone should read too much in to the Mercedes finish; this track served them well last season too but they struggled at other tracks... I think they're on the right direction but a long way to go. Lewis performs better in the race generally so they'll need to work out how to keep Mr Saturdays tyres and performance in a good place generally once Lewis leaves to an unknown Ferrari who are just blowing hot and cold!
