Seb hasn't been happy all season, or last year for that matter

A wet race and Qualy will make TV spectators very happy.
Those at the track getting wet, maybe not so much ;-)

Unless its hours of Safety car laps as most wet races seam to be now days.

Yeh, I was just joking about last years race. I must admit I don't think Vettel is as good as I used to think he was. Lewis has a better car but I also think he is a better driver. Though I'm not a Hamilton fan, credit where credit is due. The last few seasons we have seen Vettel succumb to the pressure and make mistakes.

Max always seams happy in the wet and should give Red Bull an even better chance if the race is wet.

Hard to say whose best. Hamilton has had the better car for years now. In fact now it better than ever. Hamilton sulks and is slow when he is not happy, Seb gets ragged and slow. He was like that when Danny Ricc took him on on RBR. LeClerc is good. Webber was  a problem too. Also, Seb';s issue is that he doesnt  have the car, but it can be close. If Ferrari was miles off he'd be ok, but its tantalisingly close. Then race day comes and its another letdown. For years there has been no racing between the top three teams

Ferrari has had an absolute nightmare in qualifying, last and 10th, this has left a gap for some of the mid pack. Räikkönen and Grosjean have a sniff of a podium. Hopefully a bit of rain mixes it up even more.

Worth mentioning in case anyone isn't aware, but official highlight videos are being released for FP1,FP2, Qualifying and the Race very soon afterwards.

They're in HD on the Formula 1 youtube channel, and frankly are really good for free.

The FIA should install track sprinkler around the entire track of every circuit and when enough fans vote, the water comes out and we get a good race.

Definitely.  McLaren weren't going anywhere so took a punt on Honda, and ultimately just developed their engine to give to other teams.

There was no indication things would get any better, but they did and McLaren lost Honda and Alonso.

It backs up the problem with a Constructors Title. It allows the cream to rise to the top (aka money) but the racing is predictable. Make a race where the cars count a LOT less, then you have a race. Plenty of rookie errors by big guys, plenty of skill from some smaller guys.

Silly Season now.

Bottas given two races to hear his fate.

Gasly has to go

Kyvat to RBR, he will be the next Kimi/Rubens.(Fast, reliable, driving 2nd is his role)

I dont follow why they are saying we need to keep Hockenheim. The track is a good track, but the racing we saw was due to rain. Cars mattered  a great deal less, so we had more racers racing other racers.

We need to stop giving the cars bigger tires and more downforce. When cars have less grip it makes for more exciting racing. Shorter wheel base should help reduce stability too.

niallm90: We need to stop giving the cars bigger tires and more downforce.

Goes both ways unfortunately.  More downforce often means more reliance on clean air, which simply favours whomever is out front and prevents others from following too close behind.  That in turn leads to less overtaking as you aren't close enough and don't get the old school slipstreaming benefit etc.

Allowing others to develop more is probably a bit part of the equation now.  The funding model/distribution of wealth is mental, and favours those who are already winning.

I think it's very telling how the netflix Drive to Survive TV series is still extremely interesting, even though they didn't have access to some of the top teams.

There are stories to be told, and exciting racing in the midfield, where the teams are more even.  Take the big 3 out of the equation and it's pretty exciting stuff in the middle.  Occasionally we've seen this in the coverage, where they cut to the winner only at the end because the leaders were boringly miles out ahead and the action was going on down below.

Funny that Mercedes allowed netflix in to just one race, and it turned out to be this one 😂

Thats really common. Its not even boringly miles in front, when we have team 1, 2 and 3 who are rated in that order its often a race where there will be a gap, big or small that will stay there. Some tracks shift that around, but this year and the last many years the pecking order is clear.

The rain affected it enough to make the driver the 90% guy and the car the 10% guy

But the bigger teams build better cars. If you carried out your suggestions, the bigger teams with more money and more people will get more of the edge, so it wont change. Its a Constructors Championship, so its about the cars.

F2 and F3, one of those has the same cars, the others its close specs, same with Moto2 and Moto3, so you see great racing

The F1 Drivers title is slightly a farce. We saw that in Germany when conditions show weaknesses and strengths, and that was mixed up, as it was mainly driver skill based for a change. The leaderboard is based on cars, but last race it was drivers

Post-race, Hamilton said: “The illness brought me back to being a human”.

Wow. Pity that arrogance wasn't backed up by supreme skill on the day. Best car, supposed to be best in the wet, but looked like an average driver on the day
