Jaxson: Moving under braking meaning the passing car has to change their whole approach mid braking was always rough,
Verstappen of course claims that he brakes in a straight line, just not necessarily parallel to the track his opponent wants to take. One commentator agrees that he wasn't steering under brakes. Saying "how would they know they aren't in the car with me?" isn't entirely true, don't the Stewards have data on driver inputs? Has any of that been published?

You can watch Max's and Lando's on boards, plus now both drivers have said in the lead-up to Silverstone the actual crash was awkward clumsy racing incident, Lando specifically said his post race comments based on emotions at the time.

Max clearly put the squeeze on like any champion driver would have done, Lando could have taken a bit of white line/curb to avoid the crash like how Max avoided Lando's squeeze at the start of the previous race where he took grass to avoid a crash.

For counter to the sky commentator syndrome go watch Eddie Jordan/David Coulthard, Peter Windsor, Alex Brundles comments on it.

Great marketing for the British GP though and finally all the journo's have something to talk about this season.

Jaxson:

Side note is Max goes through all of this, has a 10s penalty applied and still takes 6th place ahead of Perez who is beaten by a hASS?!

Yeah it's hard to understand how the normally ruthless Red Bull are persisting with Perez after almost 1.5 years under performance. What happened to the Red Bull who replaced Gasly with Albon mid season.

Has anyone done the math, can Red Bull win the constructors this year if two of the top three every race are McLaren ie: some combination of Max, Lando, Oscar when Perez is down in 8th behind the Ferrari's and Mercs?

Jenson and Karun had a sound view on it. Racing incident. Max did move left, but it was subtle. Mistake. Lando could have yielded to avoid contact, he didnt. Mistake.

They showed the same incident where Sainz was defending Max at the same corner. Sainz went left very aggressively, Max yielded, yet Sainz got no penalty. While all of us have a sporting bias, the Stewards arent consistent, thats a problem.

The unfortunate factor was that it was not a big contact, other contacts in the race and other races were bigger and more or less, all ok, but that small contact was really stiff to cause so much damage. Any other day they would touch, each would be bagging the other and either Max held the lead or Lando got it done, great head to head racing which is what everyone wants. They could get tough that any contact is a penalty, then we have cottonball sanitised racing, which helps no one but the mechanics.

100%.

Id expect three cars to be winning the rest of the races, add Mercedes with Sunday luck. Perez will hurt them. I just avoid hearing his comments, excuses after excuses. In any case, go Liam

Nice quali. Clearly Mercedes are back, seems aided by cool weather

Forecast from two sources was rain all race including storms, the other rain for first half of the race

My pics

Well, no idea. Mercedes with a good start will control proceedings, Lando and Max have more pace than Q3 showed. Excluding weather jeopardy, undercut may be prime strategy, but hard to see the race being free of a SC, so pretty much up in the air

But I'll go

Lando/Max either to win

Either Mercedes 3rd and 4th, on the basis that they are still fine tuning what they have and George can make errors and Lewis has lost a tiny edge this year

Like to see Oscar up his race pace, he's good in quali but more steady in the race

Or it will be like Monza when Ricciardo won. Even though he had already kept in front of Max the question of would he stay in front the whole race was shut down by Max and Lewis taking themselves out of the race. Maybe Oskar could benefit.

He's keeping Ricciardo in a seat. Ironically Lawson looking the best by doing nothing.

Lawson will be testing the current Red Bull RB20 next week at Silverstone in what is described as a "Media Filming Day". Regardless of the title, it is a chance for Liam to do as many as 200 laps in the car. Not sure I buy some of the rumours saying he's being lined up to replace Perez, but it really is in his own hands more than ever and he really needs to make the day count.

Lawson impresses with his performance and who knows what will happen. I bet Red Bull management are feeling huge pressure now that Checo is being Checo again. Especially with McLaren, Ferrari and now Mercedes really bringing it to Verstappen. They surely can't continue with the Mexican as they see the other teams steadily running them down in the Championships?

Really can't see them going to Ricciardo, this will be political as much as anything. Marko will be reminding everyone that Checo was Horner's pick to be extended. Should give the Doctor the upper hand in deciding what happens next I think. Will they give Tsunoda a go? I'm being biased but I'd back Lawson if they put him straight into the top team. Better to go in there now while Verstappen is struggling a bit.

Time for him to replicate the tyre test Ricciardo did this time last year.

The Herald reported 200km or ~34 laps of Silverstone.

That'll teach me to not double-check my "facts"!

200 laps would be nice if he could belt them out at 1:27 per though. :)

Prior to 2024 the limit was 100km per team on promotional filming days. The car has to be on special hard tyres so don't expect to much in the way of times.

As expected, strategy prevailed. Mercedes and Lewis nailed that, McLaren was poor strategy wise. Max's car took an age to find grip, but overall, the result was a fair result all things considered.

Sargeant coming 11th deserves a bonus point.
