Media says 170k winds according to FP1. Rubbish. Its forecast 43k winds. Rain can be heavy. F1 is scared of rain, so forget tomorrow

IMHO if its raining hard they can race. If a car spins off the track, 100% driver error, driving too fast, thats why you leave the track, wet or dry

After Bianci here a few years ago and also with the Pirelli wet tyres not being so good, anything torrential should be avoided in my opinion for safety.  F1 cannot have a repeat of the issues two years ago.

The heavy vehicle in the way and his overspeed was the issue then. If we need to avoid that we need to put speed limits in F1. he was hoofing it when he went off

GV27:

Saturday F1 canned.

Qualy session Sunday morning.

See FIA Twitter for details

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.saturday-running-cancelled-in-japan-full-revised-timetable-for-sunday.7bCNvGLXjco9zJUIEKgtvu.html

They are certainly going to get slammed on Saturday, the question will be how quick they can get things up and running for Sunday,

Sun up is 6am, so that gives 4 hours to fix what ever got busted on Saturday or overnight....

Oh no doubt that his driving (and others around him, as well as the race organisers) had a part to play but from what I've read about the Pirelli wets, they're not really designed for super wet conditions these days and as a result they do not perform at all well. I'd rather it be safe then unnecessarily reckless.

If anything gets busted. Forecast when I last looked was heavy rain and 43k winds. The media suggests that its a full blown typhoon, 170k+ winds. Thats not what the weather suggests. Yes the rain will end it

And as they do slow laps, everyone will be saying come on lets race, and they never do. As Brundle would say, they are driving too fast. I dont see it as reckless, if its very wet they are driving very slow, far safer than hitting a wall at 290k. My caveat would be a rolling start, as when 5 drives want to win by turn 1 that can be reckless

They say the typhoon will roll into Sunday then clear. As Quali is early and if its likely cancelled, do they use the last race finish order to replace decide the grid?

JMA forecast for Suzuka is here.. mostly around 40-50Km, but there will be gusts above that, but yeah, nothing like 170km

Yip, rain is the danger,  esp. for localised flooding...

If no time for full quali I suggest they all go out, one at a time, gets one lap and that's their quali time.

Also side note, but the old fanpass (now 'sky sport now') has a bathurst pass for $15 this weekend.

Price seems pretty fair.

Makes for a busy Sunday of Motorsport 🏎

It’s bloody good. First money I’ve paid sky in about 15 years. Previously used v8 super cars through aus and sky go accounts. This year got it on the big screen in hd (sky go was via browser - fugly!!)

i dare say this time it's not Ferrari strategists being the only problem.

car's good. lead driver doesn't have it anymore. rookie driver quite not there yet.

if i were them i'd sack vettel and look for someone else. eg danny ric (but has he still got it). max is best bet.

You're tough, you'd sack fastest qualifier who came 2nd after fluffing the start as he is past it. Reminds me of a manager at work who was very definite that it was come 1st or you were rubbish when they were an Olympics team member and a room full were too polite to ask "Well, why did you bother?"

If that's his first and only mistake and you don't really mind not winning any titles and you don't pay him a million bucks a week then yeah that's really really harsh. I'm embarrassed at even thinking about sacking him.

Lol.

They both made bad starts, it happens. It was race over then. I enjoyed him holding Lewis off though.

Why did they pit Lewis? 17 laps out he was 17 seconds in front of Vettel. 13 laps out he was 19 seconds in front. These tyres are harder, they dont fall off a cliff, at 13 laps out he was lapping faster. So you'd suggest the next 3 laps would be similar if they started to fade. They would then have to fall off a cliff, and they dont. And on a track you cannot pass on. This was the ideal track to hang on in, as we saw.
