While the French played well, they wouldn't have won without the worst refereeing  we've seen in the tournament to date.

Ironically the most suitable punishment for this obvious bit of - lets be honest, cheating - from a referee will be for France to thrash England next week (I'm pretty sure that's the draw, but I could be confused by my deep emotional distress).

At least this time we put up a decent fight: the last World Cup game the All Blacks lost to France I watched in a pub in Dublin, while drinking with a South African...it was just embarrassing. Not to mention deeply humiliating.

Go Argentina!

I have to take your comments about the referee one step further. That ref would of been the most one sided (in favour of the French obviously), inconsistent & totally useless ref to ever ref a game at this level, bar none. I would not even be surprised one bit if he was paid off to be honest!

Sending off Luke McAlister for doing NOTHING wrong, what the hell was he thinking! That cost us a try & a massive psychological advantage to the French, then a forward pass which cost us another, which was so far forward, it was not at all funny! Then the French do exactly what Luke McAlister had done earlier & nothing was done, no penalty, no sending off, no nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I would not have had a problem if the French won fair & square, but they clearly DID NOT & that's what annoy's the hell out of me.

While we lost, lets not do the typical kiwi thing and scream for heads to roll. The ABs played well, especially being down to 14 men for a while there.

The French were not the better team on the day, they were lucky they had a ref firmly in their pocket.

To be honest, I don't think anyone here would be thinking that right now. Everyone knows that Wayne Barnes is the most useless referee in the world & he cost us the match, there are no two ways about it & I firmly believe that he was paid off, it such a one sided affair, the French had their hands in the ruck all the time, nothing was done, absolutely disgraceful effort on his behalf.

For those who are interested, there are some very angry people with him at the moment & whilst I certainly do not condone what they have said, it just proves what he done was so, so wrong & man he has really rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way.

I don't blame the ref at all. Not even slightly! You can't rely on the ref to win a game of rugby. Quite frankly the French played superb rugby. Their defence was flawless. They didn't give away any silly penalties, when it could have cost them dearly if they had. They took what few opportunities they did get and made the AB's pay ..... BIG TIME!

As for the AB's. That was the most appalling second rate effort I have witnessed from them for a long time. They looked lost, inexperienced and played silly schoolboy rugby.

As a team of professionals they all need to be fired!!!!!!!! Overpampered, overpayed and OVERRATED!!!!

We just have to face it. The French was clearly the better team on the day, and the result reflected that. The ref made one or two bad calls, (he also missed a forward pass the ABs made and some other minor knock-ons in the rucks that could have cost us). He did not cost us the game. The AB's had one plan... Plan A. There was no Plan B (there hasn't been a plan B for awhile) They suck. The first seed finished 8th, and when you get paid like they do... that kind of result is totally unacceptable.

Chokers? We GAGGED!

Go the French! They deserve to win now.

When people write such rubbish that was in that wikipedia article (which has been removed from their site and replaced with non vandalized version), it makes me ashamed to be a New Zealander.

I did not watch the match, however, offering to kill a referee based on the outcome of a game is really unsportsmanlike. It also does not deserve a place on geekzone as the person who wrote such dribble does not require any further attention.

hey hey hey there guys cool it ... it's just a game, the dust will settle after a while.

yes the referee made (or rather didnt make) some calls and the french scored but a good team would have prevented that anyway. and when carter and kelleher left, our backline which was awol in the second half was reduced to complete directionless touch footy. the forwards however were mighty, mighty, mighty.

would weepu, mauger, gear and howlett have helped a backline with an injured (and mind you, off form anyway) carter i cannot say. in the end, the ref shared the limelight and we lost. we got our punishment, will the ref? also we looked very very lethargic in the 2nd half - lack of game time? oh well, 30 days of boredom and suddenly it was over before we knew it. sounds familiar, one called mitch and another called hart will testify :) although i have to agree now the game in itself is very referee intepreted ...
