Go the Mighty All Blacks!

The first test for the All Blacks against Italy was a very good game I thought. It started off with a hiss & a roar with some brilliant Rugby, even though the 2nd Half wasn't as fast paced & high in point scoring, it was nonetheless good to watch in my opinion.

Both Australia & South Africa have started the tournament off very strongly indeed, however the quality of the opposition for any of the Southern Hemisphere teams has been a little on the poor side for the initial games.

Today however, what should of been a good test, resulted in the England being steam rolled by the might of a what looks like a very good South African team, 36-0 being the final score, the woeful English capitulated in any facet of the game.

The All Black "B Team" will dispense Portugal tonight, however I'm looking forward to the Business End of the tournament, which starts from the Quarter Finals onwards.

I'm picking an All Black vs South Africa Final, of which the All Blacks will win by 10 points.

I'm picking a SA vs NZ final as well with hopefully an AB win. I think the biggest unansered question will be who the winner of pool B will be - England are just plain terrible.

The All Blacks WILL win.

The big advantage they have is fitness, by the end of the game against Italy the AB's looked like they could still go another 80mins.

Looking forward to tonights demolition. It should be an easy 100+ and look for Nick Evans to set a points scoring record.

I am just going through the Joost new channels on Joost and found TV 5 Rugby - and they are streaming the matches live. Not that we need, since you can watch those on TV 3 without having to use your limited Internet traffic allowance and having to watch the French commentary. But good to know:

By the way, as usual, if anyone wants a Joost invite, send me a PM with a valid e-mail address.

All Blacks 108 Portugal 13

Hardly a surprising result, however you have to admire the enthusiasm of Portugal, they played their best right to the end & managed to score a try of which would of been the equivalent of them winning the Rugby World Cup, haha.

The first 20mins of each half were not the usual standard of All Black Rugby, but the certainly changed that around drastically in the second 20 minutes of each half.

Well done to the All Blacks, next week will be our first real challenge against Scotland, however I don't think they will cause us too much trouble.

Personally I dont like rugby, but I support the ABs fully, because "in Rome do what Romans do" and the "World Cup feeling" is awesome!
It's good when a country has a great team like this and New Zealanders are crazy for the All Blacks. They'll win.

The question is, has SA learned to win away from home? If they have it's going to be a real test.

Although I'm a bit over the whole All Blacks(R) thing, this tournament has certainly produced some very interesting and unexpected results so far.

SA's demolishing of England is going to give them hugh confidence, albeit that England did not look too good on defense.  I also think France will get better after and can not be discounted.  BUT the ABs looked to have the better fitness and determination this year.  They did not let up against Italy...  a good sign.  A few errors against Portugal, but it must be hard to concentrate for the whole game when it is not a top quality team.

A couple of deciding games coming up this weekend with Scotland V ABs at Murrayfeild, this will determine the winner of the pool and France V Ireland to find out whicc one of them will drop out of the world cup!!

So far the only game i've managed to watch in full without being bored was the Georgia Ireland game - was rooting for Georgia and they almost got there. Missed the Tonga vs Samoa game, sounds like that was a good one to watch too.

I just came across this in a picking competition I am part of....

The following purports to be a press release from the International Rugby Board about how participant nations in the World Cup will react from this point on to the All Blacks motivating themselves before matches by performing the haka:

1. The Scotland team will chant ‘You lookin' at me Jimmy?’ before each of them smashes a bottle of beer over their opponents' heads.

2. The Ireland team will split into two, with the southern half performing a Riverdance while the northerners march the traditional route from their dressing room to the pitch, via their opponent's dressing room.

3. Wales proposed to form a choir to sing Tom Jones's ‘It's Not Unusual’ - but the committee vetoed the idea.4. Argentina will unexpectedly invade a small part of opposition territory, claim it as their own ‘Las In-Goals-Areas’ and have to be forcibly removed by the match stewards.

5. The Americans will not attend until almost full-time. In future years, they will amend the records to show that they were in fact the most important team in the tournament, and Hollywood will make a blockbuster film called ‘Saving Flanker Ryan’.

6. The Australians will have a barbecue on their side of the field and invite the opposition over before the game. The food and alcohol will be in abundance and by the start of the game, no one will remember what they came to the stadium for. After some streaking, the singing of dirty songs and the occasional chunder, everyone will go home thoroughly convinced it was a bloody good night.

I dont think i'll be watching until the playoffs. Unless it's at 8am on saturday that is! I am still guardedly cautious about all the AB hype. The last time they left without Wellington's best player (Cullen) Mortlock ran straight through with no Fullback to challenge. This time Weepu is not there and he has some skills that none of the other backs have ... I wonder how much (or little) we might miss that. Having said that, if he was punished for ill discipline i can take that but to drop him and say he's useless, that pink pill i cannot swallow. That baldy with no name did the same to Cullen and look what happens when the real big boys show up ...

I think we're the best team on paper, but blackies you need to play your hearts out like that every match is your last match of your career - otherwise you can be beaten! Dont let us down!!!

Well, the Irish are looking like the biggest under performers of the entire tournament, nearly loosing to Georgia!! There latest effort against France was yet another example of how far behind the Northern Hemisphere is with this RWC, France looked ordinary yet again as well, in my opinion.

One thing that really annoys me is how Scotland have wimped out for their up coming test against the All Blacks, only including 2 of the players that comprehensively bet Romania. To my mind this really goes against the whole basis of the RWC, fielding a second rate team so they can save their best players for Italy, what a crock. Yes, I know the All Blacks did not field their best 15 against Portugal, but to my mind the All Blacks have two very good teams that are both highly skilled, whereas Scotland's second 15 I feel will only be yet another walk over.

However, I will still be getting up at 0300 on Monday morning & yes I am working that day, but at the end of the day, this All Black fan is with the boys for every single game they play!
