Really disappointed to hear that Spa will be going into a rotational basis on the calendar from 2027 (first miss 2028). It's my favourite circuit by some way and one of the classic European venues with so much history in the sport.

FOM chasing the dollars to the detriment of the longer-term appeal of F1 I feel. Meanwhile we see three races in the USA, none of which are particularly inspiring, especially the Miami and Las Vegas rounds. I guess that's the privilege of American ownership but it should be one GP per country when so many countries want in and the African continent isn't even represented currently in a "world" championship.

Sadly F1 is more entertainment than it is sport...so money talks, or in this case lands you a spot in the calendar

Colapinto signed to Alpine for 2025 as a "reserve" driver.

In the meantime, Jack Doohan is officially welcomed to the "Serio Perez School Of Driver Motivation". If the jungle drums are to be believed, the Australian's contract is only rock-solid for the first six races of next season. He's getting the reverse Liam Lawson deal, a half dozen starts to demonstrate why he deserves to remain in the Alpine seat beyond that.

Still somewhat surprised that Williams would let Colapinto go, given the huge money he appears capable of generating off the track. It seems Doriton are quite happy to write the big cheques needed to keep the team moving forward.

Interesting to see that Toyota is "gradually moving towards F1 Return." I guess they will eventually buy Haas?

Except that Gene Haas has to date showed absolutely no inclination to sell, and rejected offers last year.
He's only 72, so any potential buyer (including Toyota) may have a while to wait.

Toyota may have a better chance of buying Alpine or Williams, or maybe Red Bull might be persuaded that running two teams is more trouble than it's worth 🤷‍♂️

Of your candidates, I wonder if Alpine are the most likely in play (for a sale). It would limit the financial risk for Toyota who must still be hurting from their misadventures in F1 last time round. I wonder if they would like to be a works team in the future?

There is maybe one way that Toyota could get into F1 as an engine manufacturer without having to buy a team.
That would be to buy the Red Bull F1 engine building organisation off the existing owners and re-brand it as Toyota without initially actually changing anything except the branding.
Tada! The Red Bull and Racing Bulls teams are now Powered By Toyota

Over a period, it could become more & more integrated with the 'real' Toyota, and could be merged with the parts of Toyota that make, e.g., WEC or WRC engines.

I don't think it will happen, but if it does it was My Idea and I want a lot of money 😂

That is a genius suggestion!

The one question I have is why F1 wants new works teams such as GM and Toyota? There is a substantial body of evidence that big car manufacturers are not nimble enough to succeed in F1, eg. Ford, Toyota, BMW, and arguably Renault/Alpine. To me, Mercedes only succeeded by letting Toto run it as a high performing personal fiefdom, firewalled off and corporate involvement limited to writing large cheques for nearly 10 years.

Think Ford already took your idea and are running with it. No cash will be forthcoming for you unfortunately.

It feels incredibly weird to see Lewis in Ferrari Red.

Ferrari are absolutely winning the marketing game at the moment.

Good on them, milking this for all it's worth.

I'm digging it, that godfather shot is pretty impressive...

Which subscription service are you intending on using to watch the races this year?

F1TV for me.

Tried it for the first time this year and for $100 was perfect.

Considered Sky TV at $365 black friday deal but didn't feel the need to commit there.

Of use to me are the 30 min race coverage packages for when I don't wake up in the middle of the night.
They're available by the time we wake up in NZ and do a decent job of conveying the main points whilst removing the processional fuel savings laps.

Before that I would use the free YouTube coverage, but 10 mins is just not enough for many races.

Sky was saying that the picture shows 7 windows plus a door...Lewis has 7 championships and Ferrari will make it his 8th...

The other "numerology" link I've seen made is the four openings on the ground floor and the four openings on the floor above in the original photo corresponding to his car number.

More power to them all I suppose, I see kiwi Angela Cullen has re-signed with him to join the magical mystery tour at Ferrari. However, my gut feeling is that Leclerc is going to school Sir Lewis a la George Russell and we'll be hearing a continuation of the regular whining on team radio again this season. Tsunoda gets really unfairly treated in this respect, most of the top drivers on the grid are serial whingers or sulkers every chance they get.
