Hi Guys,

So am I right in thinking I need the following items to set up a satellite dish to pick up the V8’s on Optus D2?

Satellite Dish – 75-100cm
Satellite Mount
KU Band LNB
HD DVB-S2 decoder/receiver which can do 576i and 4:2:2
Someone to install it all + coax cable and fittings, and to make sure it points at Optus D2

Thanks
Mike

E3xtc: So it looks as though iSky is getting locked down

Just to clarify, is this the one device at a time policy or something different?

To improve account security we’re going to implement our ‘one device at a time’ policy within the iSKY Usage Rules. This will allow iSKY video to be streamed on one device at a time per SKY account and will help us serve SKY customers better.

Just looked at the v8supercars website and the only country that they wont stream to is NZ

Streaming is available worldwide excluding New Zealand, please visit skysport.co.nz for information on V8 Supercars New Zealand broadcast.

VPN to aussie should fix it.

Thats standard. Sky paid a LOT of money for the rights, if they want to be the only broadcaster source, they can be.

Another good reason to avoid Sky like the plague..

Have to say SKY dropped the ball here big time!

Why wasn't there an offer like $10 for Sky sport 2 for Friday - Midnight Sunday ? They would have made money and made a few more V* fans happy...

I Have taken the plunge and purchased the Sky Sports for the whole month but I'm not happy about it...

It's a two edged sword situation. One is SKY are the ones with enough money to buy the rights and they have. There are other channels, but their budgets are less, but they're also partly tax payer funded so they have a leg up on Sky who has to cover their costs etc.

It's never simple, but fundamentally there are no other pay options available to the NZ public, so it's a monopoly on that front. One that's existed un challenged for years... Even if there were other pay options, presumably one of them would win the exclusive rights and we'd possibly be in a position to have to subscribe to both providers. Where it's rough is that access to the content is restricted to one company, whereas a better end result for the public would be if the end consumer could chose which company they viewed the content through.

Anyway, I take it I'm not going to be able to see any of the race in HD this year (as I don't have have Sky + a mysky hd capable box + the $10 rip off HD ticket) , and I'll be restricted to visiting bars or watching lower quality streams from somewhere on the computer.

remember that the rights holder for the V8 Super cars are the ones to blame here, they priced the broadcast rights way out of the ball park of the free to air channels.

Want to b!tch then direct it their.

TV3 had the first option on the rights but they went Bankrupt and passed on them , the only company interested and could afford them were Sky, so if Sky passed then the internet would be the only option so at least nearly a million people can now see Bathurst for no extra cost.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I agree with Jax, Dicky and Vexx.

EPL caused some people to have to subscribe to two sources. Imagine if we had 4 versions of Sky-like companies, some would have to subscribe to 2 or 3 or 4 to cover the desires of themselves, other half, kids.

If Sky said the cost was too high and they won't be airing Bathurst I assume that would be ok with the anti Sly posters? After all its competition which is what everyone wants. Sky found a way to get some good EPL content, and I gather that is free, thats pretty good. (Assuming those who previously watched EPL had the sports channels, so no extra cost)

I don't feel Sky is the evil that many here put forward. Just my opinion.

A very easy option to unblock streaming might be to use/try Hola Unblockr if you have/use Chrome. Thats what i'll be trying first up as it works great on other sites.

Channel 7 has it. And rest assured, us Aussies are still interested. I'll be watching the whole lot, and me and the Mrs are going to Clipsal 500 next year.
