According to this chap who goes into the nitty of the rulebook. They can't change much else unless damaged. As there's no 2nd boat and you declared all parts before they started.

How true that Is I'm unsure.

He has another video comparing our sail position when we bottomed out (only boat with a different dual sheet setup to control both surfaces)

They also had common spies suppling to each team to even the playing field. Apparently the previous spying was getting out of hand.

They can change a few things (like they can change up to 20% of their foils) but they have to be measured 120 hours before the next lot of racing.

So, for example, I'm sure Team NZ is changing things both visible and not visible to us and they'll declare and measure it 5 days before the start of the Cup final on Oct 12.

The winner of the Louis Vuitton cup will surely do the same.

Well the Brits have won the Louis Vuitton cup so the AC is shaping up to be quite a contest. And the TV graphics have improved. Now if they could only replace the commentator who IMHO is pretty bad with his exaggerated pronunciation and lack of yachting knowledge.

Love him or hate him, wouldn't it be great to enlist Jimmy Spithill as a guest commentator for the cup final?

I'd take him over McIvor any day, some of the stupid things he says is so cringe worthy.

I dislike McIvor too but grudgingly think his yachting knowledge isn't too bad - it's his inane other comments I find cringey. He keeps stating the blindingly obvious and repeating it. As @throbb says, he just says stupid stuff. Eg. in the days well before the end of the LV final, before and many times during each race, he kept repeating "This is a must-win race for the Italians" - even if it was 3-2 and 4-3. Just crap - those simply weren't must-win situations at all. The only must-win for them was before the last race when it was 6-4.

Maybe I'm too picky but I find him grating.

Yep it's going to be very interesting - even though very little of the LV regatta was truly riveting sailing. Hope AC is not the same. Have to say I'm pleased Spithill is out. I was hoping the Brits would be the challenger - I like the cut of their jib (😀) and there's something appealing to me of them having the chance, for the first time in 60 years, to win the cup. More and better history involved with the Brits than with the Italians.

I'm glad I don't get up at  midnite to watch  this with so many no races due to no wind.  Just  was the recorded replay and skip the ads   and sometimes Sky misses the end of these days as well.

Glad to see that the Womens' Americas Cup is on this week to fill the void left between the LV and AC.

Shame they aren't able to get as many female sailors involved and have to resort to smaller boats (the same ones the Junior AC was contested in).

I guess it's because women don't sail and they're vast inferior to men - otherwise why wouldn't they just have mixed teams in the main draw? Best sailors for the job and all that...

Anyway - would have been nice to see them being treated a bit more evenly, but at least they are racing and it's some exciting racing at times- I like the fleet races - they're fun when they're close...unfortunately, many of them haven't been that close.

I stream it direct from the AC website - usually delayed. I like watching delayed so I can scrub forward during the bits that I don't want/need to watch.

Often I will watch it like this on my iPad while still lying in bed at 5am. If it's a bit later, I will be up and I cast it from the iPad to our big TV.

A good thing about the AC website stream is that the stream quality is great and there's no ads.

I guess women aren't realistically going to be cyclors but is there anything to prevent skilled women from being trimmers or helmspeople in the main AC75 event?

I usually just watch on YT - delayed broadcast. I guess that is the same feed as the AC site. Same commentators alas

Maybe wrong but I believe there’s only one feed - so all viewers get English only, including the McIvor-effect.

Any ads on YT?
