Interesting also most teams/drivers finding their max speed is well down on certain corners compared to last year.
Looks to be due to battery harvesting and saving to deploy on key areas, so hopefully this doesn't come off as the fuel saving seasons we've had previously - where there is racing the first 4 laps, then fuel saving, and then racing when it's basically too late in the last 10 laps...
The ICE output can be routed to charge the battery by the sounds of it, so it's not just charged from breaking kinetic recovery. That clips the mechanical output significantly too, so these are not the usual F1 cars at all this year, and a range of driving approaches are being investigated to see how to maximise all the pieces into a faster lap time.
Both Alonso and Leclerc are down 50km/hr on some corners for example. Yes is testing, but vibe seems to be less ICE power this year, with a battery that can be deployed in first 1/3 - 1/2 of straight before it's then depleted.
Hmm... 🤔
