Im picking Max goes to Mercedes, likely to be during this season

He has a chance to win WDC if RB21 improves, but when it has improved recently its not a winning car

If it was deliberate, or a misjudgement, or a careless misjudgement, losing points didnt seem to matter

Horner didnt say much, Marko went off with anti Max comments

Toto was massively gentle compared to previous incidents, comparing him to great drivers who think the world is against them so they are aggressive

Toto is well known to be courting Max

George, the young and excellent leader in Mercedes has no contract

George has been seen elsewhere in the paddock

Max told RBR he wants three things. A stable Red Bull environment, thats a fail. Horner issues, Marko's issues. Jos.

He wants a stable team. Wheatley, Newey and one other have gone, thats a fail

A race winning car, thats a fail

So, Max goes to Mercedes this year, to bed in. George goes to RBR as nowhere else to go. Max and Antonelli would be formidable, you would wager that Mercedes could do very well with the 2026 new regs, RBR seem to not have a good car, the team has peaked what it can do with it. When Max won his titles, same for Vettel it was never a sensational car, barely midfield in speed traps, but it had the best combination of aero, downforce, team, and drivers

There you go, thats my cards on the table!

I always saw Max to Aston Martin, following Honda and Newey, but Mercedes is proving to be a more capable team to date and is obviously well backed.

Lewis is in a world of hurt at the moment.  His engineer is terrible and it's just not working.  He should be regretting the move but I do understand the want for change and the allure of Ferrari.

I don’t see many drivers moving, not with the new cars next year.

I don't watch onboards, but I watched a YT clip of all of Max's audio with GP, pretty cool. General info and advice where the car in front and behind is, lots of button and mode management stuff. Unsure if that's typical, perhaps Thermo you hear the ongoing audio if you watch onboards?

Sorry for the delay, been busy. Yes, if you watch the on-boards you get all the communication between driver and his race engineer, plus whoever might join that channel typically at the end of the race to say congratulations or whatever. I'm not much of a fan of David Croft or Alex Jacques so it can be a blessing in disguise, as I'm sure you realise I'm onboard with Lawson most of each weekend to see how he's going.

It should be noted the audio is not synced with the camera, at a guess I'd say it's 2-4 seconds behind what you're seeing. Not sure if this is a technical limitation of the system they use for on-boards or if F1TV are introducing a delay so they can bleep stuff. I've heard Lawson swear several times so it's probably the former.

This is with F1TV obviously. I know that Sky UK offer this as part of their package but I'm unsure if this is part of Sky NZ's offering as I'm not subscribed with them. It's worth noting that the on-board feed has been a little ropey at times. Sometimes you will get the in-car camera but the Sky UK commentary feed over the top. It can be changed in the settings if you find this occurring, you're looking for the audio setting and changing that to "Team".

Would be nice if F1TV offered an audio option for just ambient track/car sounds so that people could forgo either of the English commentaries available on the platform.

8th option on the audio settings is TRACK FX (see below), might only be for replays I'm not 100% sure.

Is this on F1TV? I don't often watch the dedicated onboard streams but wanted to replay the onboards of Max's meltdown(s). When I've done this previously, you just get the dedicated driver-race engineer audio in real time. However now I seem to get the Sky commentary. Did something change or did I just mis-remember?

Interestingly, Max's onboard also cuts to rear view a little bit before the George Inschident so you can't actually see or hear Max's view of what happened anyway.

Hey mdf, yep, as above you get various in-car camera views at the discretion of the F1TV director (normally not the camera you'd like to see for any given incident!) and the radio communications between driver and race engineer with a slight delay. The Sky commentary is coming up because your app is defaulting to them rather than the team audio.

You need to look for the gear icon on your screen and hit that, then into audio options and change that away from "English" and onto "Team". It never used to be an issue last year, if you selected an on-board camera you would automatically get the radio communication for that car as your audio. However, this season it's been all over the place. Typically the race on-boards will default to team audio during the race live, but watching Free Practices and Qualification will often require me to go into settings to change the audio option as I'm hearing the Sky UK audio.

Might be my device (Nvidia Shield), might be on their end. One of a number of issues they have had this year in rolling out the new features it seems. I did contact F1TV about it but their understanding of the issue appeared "unsatisfactory" to me.

Thanks for that, snj. Can I ask if you've got a premium or standard sub? I've just had a look at F1TV on my TV (app loaded to my Nvidia Shield), my Win10 Laptop in a Chrome browser window and my Android 12 phone running the Spanish GP replay, and none of them are offering me TrackFX in the settings.

I'm on a standard subscription. I anticipate the app will likely function in different ways dependant on the device you use but disappointed I'm not getting a TrackFX option across the three screens I've tried.

Perhaps I need to invest in some better kit.

I'm on Premium, and tested that through Edge. I was going to say "seems weird to be a Premium feature" but I realise that I would've got the multi-player.

Since you're on Standard, try selecting the International feed first, because from memory last year the FX option only appeared on the International feed option and not the F1TV feed option. (Going to dig out my Android phone which forces Standard and will see)

Edit: Yeah, Android apps which has the 'Pro' players instead of Premium, no audio options on the F1TV default stream, but the Audio settings including "FX" appear if you change it to the International feed (the globe icon on the right). Should be the same on the other devices from memory too.

Looking forward to this race. Max is out of the WDC, so he will be just a bit player while Lando and Oscar duke it out

Mercedes could do well, Ferrari too

We're only Round 10/24, so mathematically still possible so Max would still be Max...unless it's because of the Penalty points, probably Max would be a bit less Max but it's still a long way and the car isn't bad... it's just not dominant

No hope. Im an RBR fan, Max is superb. Even if they improved the car, its way too tough to garner the points, it will be bit by bit, not enough. Back in the day, blown engines were common-ish, a DNF, thats not the case now. Yes I know Mercedes engines have had some recently.

The RB21 is bad, Max outdrives it. There will be circuits when he is competitive, or very competitive, but thats the exception not the rule.

By "us" do you mean yourself and a bunch of middle eastern oil billionaires?

It's still early in the season, F1 isn't risk free any driver could Ricciardo into a barrier and break a wrist.
