Looking forward to this race. Max is out of the WDC, so he will be just a bit player while Lando and Oscar duke it out

Mercedes could do well, Ferrari too

Ferrari I suspect have a new under-tray which I think went on because of the new front wing requirement. From what I can figure it will change the cars balance to more front end usable into corners (like the McLaren).  So will be interesting to see how mr Lewis goes if they do use it.

I'm a Mercedes fan. Weather forecast for around 22C which isn't too hot. However given Montreal is suffering from wildfires, it could be much hotter I guess which would torpedo any chances of a victory or even a podium.

No hope. Im an RBR fan, Max is superb. Even if they improved the car, its way too tough to garner the points, it will be bit by bit, not enough. Back in the day, blown engines were common-ish, a DNF, thats not the case now. Yes I know Mercedes engines have had some recently.

The RB21 is bad, Max outdrives it. There will be circuits when he is competitive, or very competitive, but thats the exception not the rule.

I'm a McLaren fan. If you've jinxed this for us, I swear to God...

:-)   Being Kiwi, I am also a McLaren fan. Its jinx-free. They will finish 1-2 in both championships.

Side entertainment is Max, Ferrari and Mercedes having good races at times

Love to see Williams continue their progression

I doubt it will be much hotter. The wildfire heat wont go there, any smoke cover would tend to reduce sunlight

Since you're on Standard, try selecting the International feed first, because from memory last year the FX option only appeared on the International feed option and not the F1TV feed option. (Going to dig out my Android phone which forces Standard and will see)

Edit: Yeah, Android apps which has the 'Pro' players instead of Premium, no audio options on the F1TV default stream, but the Audio settings including "FX" appear if you change it to the International feed (the globe icon on the right). Should be the same on the other devices from memory too.

Thanks again snj, I did as you suggested and the TrackFX option comes up when the international feed option is selected. Seems strange that it wouldn't be available as an audio option regardless of which feed you're on. Maybe it's there for broadcasters who want to put their own local language commentary feed over the top. You'd think they'd be hooking up for rebroadcast using something other than the F1TV app though.

Looking forward to giving it a try this weekend at any rate.

Stroll apparently racing this weekend. Given the way everything is regulated to death in the sport, I am a little surprised that the FIA and/or FOM don't have a say in whether he's allowed to race. Perhaps they do and I've not seen it reported.

But, when you have a situation whereby teams are sanctioned for releasing cars in an unsafe condition, you would have thought a driver would need to be at a certain level of fitness so as to not be a danger to himself or others. Maybe being able to pass the car emergency exit test is all that is required to be able to go racing.

I do wonder a little how much of this is driven by not being willing to give another driver a chance in the seat and potentially show him up. He might have the benefit of his father being the "leader" of Aston Martin F1 but Stroll Snr is not the only investor in the enterprise and I wonder how the others might view the continued favouritism Junior receives when there could be better drivers available.

I guess the other investors knew the score when they agreed to put their money in.

Watched a YT clip recently about Aston Martin and its investment and goals. Senior Stroll is a winner. I feel Lance will get an honourable exit to another series, problem solved

It's because the International feed is the official FOM 'clean' feed used for all the broadcasters. So it's the one they mux the commentary from the official international feed broadcasters. Even though F1TV is also FOM, they add their own graphics/etc on top of the International feed (Sky UK/etc are allowed to do the same, which is why when watching the International feed via F1TV you'll sometimes hear references to things that aren't on screen).

So yeah, International/World feed = raw + selection of commentary + FX.  F1TV feed = Packaged up + F1TV commentary.

It's also why it's better to say FOM when talking about the broadcast choices with what camera is active on a car instead of F1TV. Even though I think the two teams are in the same control room and paid by FOM, the F1TV broadcast is a separate set of editors/producers.

Should be a fun race, George and Max in the front row, Oscar waiting for opportunities.

George was massive, the perfect lap. Antonelli near by, that hosts strategy

Max awesome, seems happy with the car. To win he needs the lead on first lap

Oscar, not sure, car is very good, but not excellent this track. But he will gain big on Lando, WDC wise

Lando, again falters under pressure

I can see the top four finishing in quali order. How that changes will depend on good or bad strategy calls, plus I'd assume red flag is well in play with the walls.

Should be a great race tomorrow, thought Verstappen had done enough but a huge lap from Russell to secure the pole. Don't expect Verstappen to change his driving style and won't be surprised if the Stewards bend over backwards to find a reason not to penalise him should he get involved in any dubious activities. The FIA/FOM won't want their reigning world champion to be banned under any circumstances.

Not sure Russell has the resilience to secure the win, he has limited the mistakes from previous seasons. He's got a new PU in the back but the way they have been failing there would have to be some nervousness about that from Mercedes. Piastri on hand to capitalise and must be a decent chance of getting the win with the car and temperament he has.

Lawson again pretty dismal considering he had a new PU, turbo, MGU-H and exhaust while Hadjar didn't. This time he's saying he needed a second build lap to get his tires into the right window, will need to rewatch Q1 and see how Hadjar managed his session but suspect he wasn't hamstrung by that requirement. The Frenchman just has more skill when push comes to shove. Feel sorry for Liam but he's doing nothing to turn around the "Slowson" tag at the moment.

If anything Lawson is getting worse, I doubt he has much future in F1. If he's lucky RB will give him another year, if not they have 2 youngsters waiting for 2 seats.

Everybody knows Max has a penalty point disadvantage other than Max himself. Should be interesting race start.

Really good qualifying that. I'm on a plane tomorrow at 8am so hoping I can catch some of the race at the airport.

Lawson is actually getting better. Usually a tenth to two behind Hadjar, or occasionally better as was the case these FP sessions this weekend. Thats far better than previous. But when it counted in quali, not good. Unsure whose fault it was this time, last time it was poor tyre strategy.

Max knows the rules more than anyone else. He pushes more then anyone else, hence his CV. If it doest work out he gets penalty points. Liam Lawson has some himself.

"other than Max himself. Should be interesting race start." A slightly bizarre comment, unless its an anti Max sentiment.

I dont feel the stewards would help Max out, if so, thats mild corruption. If anything, if he was suspended for a race, thats news. News is good. WDC wise it doesnt matter, he isnt in play anyway, IMHO

Max knows the rules, so he will push them as far as he can, if he makes a mistake or a misjudgment, rules will apply.

I found George's comment pretty weak. "I dont have penalty points to worry about, chuckle, chuckle" Perhaps thats a psychological move, wont work as Max doesnt care about the WDC, that race is over. If anything, Max will assess how he arrives at turn 1, outside or inside, and use the rules. He will worry more about nailing the rule and owning the corner (if that is available). So in my view Max isn't under pressure, George is, as Georges chance of a race win is 1 in 20. Max's chance is 1 in 4, which in the WDC consequence, isnt important as WDC is over in any case.

Hope there are no red flags or safety cars, as Im pushed to watch the end, work wise

Not the greatest race to watch, it looked to be closing up at the end till Lando unfortunately did what Lando does.

Perfect race weekend for George, well deserved. Mercedes have made a small agin, and a small gain in 2025 does gain a lot. Ferrari, perhaps a small loss, which dropped them well off.

Max stayed where he stayed, good enough to hold position, not good enough to go anywhere.

Kimi was super, first time at an awkward track, nailed it.

Oscar summed it up nicely, probably had the better race car, but not enough to pass. But he stretched his lead, not a bad day at the office on an average weekend.

Only one race, but Im expecting these 5 to be duking it out a lot from here on. These 5 have compressed nicely. While McLaren 1-2 will always be the favourite, its going to be closer from now.
