Australia have showed some grit the likes of which we haven't seen for a good many years, in the series against France. There seems to be a much better 'feel' to the attitude of the team in general. I actually think the red card (which I thought was tough from a game perspective, but correctly given regardless) helped them. They lifted visibly afterward and I believe it was probably the reason they won that game. I am not sure without it, if they would have won. Who knows, but it felt that way to me. It will have done them the world of good to self belief.

good coach perhaps?

didn't watch ABs. Aus - Fra was the best game of the year so far.

and no way that was a red card.

Sorry, but it totally, absolutely, is. Check 13 seconds into that video.

It's probably a decent part of it, yes.

The French No8’s theatrics leading to the red card would have made his country’s football players feel proud.

Perhaps D.Mac needs to take some acting lessons rather than shrugging hits off and carrying on.

i cannot find an angle where his shoulder actually touched his head.

his head bent forwards from the force of the tackle making it look like shoulder to head. it was shoulder to shoulder/chest, no arms tackle, causing =>> head bent forward.

i'm not up to date with the current rules - does the rules state red card for shoulder charge? used to be yellow card for shoulder charge

Is it just me but I found the actions of Mo'unga in the first half both distasteful and unsportsmanlike. The Fijian captain was told by the ref to call his team together and warn them about too many penalties. As soon as he had finished speaking and before they could have reset, all still collected in the middle of the field, Mo'unga tapped with the resultant try. Yes, within the rules but not the type of play that is a good example to kids - more a win at all costs sort of attitude.

The referee  was also complicit.

Really annoyed me and just gave up watching.

DMacs try saving tackle on Ben Volavola was an *absolute screamer*. He gained on him in a way that made BV look like he was standing still. Ben must have been totally shocked to get rolled like that so close to the line.

So how long should he have waited after the ref called “time on”? (It was a couple of seconds at least).

There were defenders directly in front of Mo’unga when he took the tap and they advanced to tackle him. So direct in fact, that the ref signalled a penalty advantage for them not retiring 10m.

The try was subsequently scored in the corner after a couple of phases. If you want to place blame then it should be aimed at the ref for restarting play. People need to look beyond the ill-informed comments of Justin Marshall. I am pretty sure they don’t hand out participation certificates at test match level.

If it had happened in reverse, the ABs would have been ridiculed for making such a rookie mistake.

What’s next? Lineout calls aren’t allowed to use code because it’s unfair to the opponents?

This isn't the point - it's a set piece like a scrum or lineout. You can't have a lineout when the other team isn't there.

Sorry, I should have put (/s) after the sentence to point out exaggeration for effect.

The point was that RM waited long enough. There was a defensive line set.
