tdgeek: Oscar summed it up nicely, probably had the better race car, but not enough to pass. But he stretched his lead, not a bad day at the office on an average weekend.

Stretched his lead over Norris but Verstappen closed up. Norris could have taken them both out. They'll have another 14? races.

Not the most exciting race by any means.
Kinda sad when watching qualifying is actually a mini preview of the race.

Lando needs to get out of his own head. Feel for the guy who stayed with the team since it was extremely poor, but can’t stitch it together consistently in what is their best season chance in a long long time.

Oscar by contrast is just quietly out there doing his thing.

Max is still in the game.

Mercs it remains to be seen if they are consistently good, or just crop up where the track and conditions perfectly align with their sweet spot.

Apart from Lando binning it in the wall, that race was a real yawn fest. Needed a groundhog to make an appearance to spice it up.

Lawsons only saving grace is Tsunoda's equally terrible results. One cant help think they will both go at the end of the season.

There was nothing discussed on F1TV so I didn't know it had happened until I read it afterwards, apparently lost up to 0.5s per lap so that would explain the lack of pace and why he was so far behind Lando.

I don't feel Max is in play, but he mathematically. He needs to score an average of 3.07 points more than Oscar in every race, that's a tough ask against a car that is almost always better each and every race. Each race that goes by will push that average out.  If Max, who is 43 points behind, won the next 6 races and Oscar second, Oscar will be ahead by 1 point. Very unlikely to happen. Yes, Oscar can have 2 DNF's, but not likely, as he finished every race in 2024 and so far in 2025.

I do feel Merc has found a bit, possibly back to being decent podium chances again

There was a camera angle that has the carcass shown every time they use the footage...

Alex Dunne, seriously impressive. You dont expect an F2 driver in his rare FP1 session to be with his teammate, especially in the top car. There is no room for him in McLaren for years, I hope they place him in another team. Oddly Red Bull (as in Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls) would be a solid option, taking Hadjar as a lock-in, there are two potential places there. Liam is just doing ok given he is often close to Hadjar, Yuki is not needed once Honda exit.

Lawson, you little beauty!!

Finally hooked it up when it counted, little bit of luck in Q3 with the yellow, but he's had his share of bad luck this season so all's fair.

He's been looking strong both days so far, front and rear wing upgrades seem to be working, hope he can convert tomorrow.

Yeah it was a great watch, he was generally ahead of Hadjar, and kept improving during quali.

Did he have luck re the Q3 yellow? Piastri suffered. Gasly was one of the 3 he was competing with, maybe you meant that?

So while Max had to let for the yellow, he was not on a PB lap, so Liam probably earned beating Max for 6th

Kimi lost out, didnt get a chance to start his lap, probable luck there

Horner says Max could have got 3rd. One of the commentators said Max wasnt on a PB to that point. Other commentators suggested he could have got 3rd.

His Q2 time was faster than his Q3 I think, his first Q3 was probably used tires banker

Yellows from Gasly's spin prevented Piastri's and Max's last laps.

Good job Liam!

Lando's back! But a lot of help from the yellow from Gasly

Could've should've would've... doesn't matter as Liam will still start ahead of "the main team"...

Hopefully it's the turnaround Liam needed and would do well in the race...but have a feeling he'll have to yield by the first corner...

I still wonder what Liam could have done with the RBR - Tsunoda had great pace in the RB but has floundered, as expected, in the main RBR... he received upgraded parts when he took over from Lawson at Suzuka so its a shame we couldn't see a direct comparison between his ability in both machines.. ultimately the RBR is showing its issues and perhaps the direction the team has taken wasn't the brightest for overall team points.
