Horner says Max could have got 3rd. One of the commentators said Max wasnt on a PB to that point. Other commentators suggested he could have got 3rd.

His Q2 time was faster than his Q3 I think, his first Q3 was probably used tires banker

Yellows from Gasly's spin prevented Piastri's and Max's last laps.

Good job Liam!

Yeah, it seemed possible that Verstappen and Antonelli would set a quicker time to bump Lawson down from P6 but for the Gasly yellow. However, that's racing. Lawson looked likely for points in Barcelona but for the late safety car there. He's been due for something to go his way for a change, not to mention his strong driving this weekend has allowed him to capitalise on the misfortune of others. Lawson has 100% deserved his P6 result.

Expect he will have to yield to Verstappen off the line unless the Dutchman has suddenly grown disenchanted with the state of things at Red Bull. No chance of that I suppose but what a story it would be if he rode shotgun for Liam and held up the guys behind him to allow the Kiwi to consolidate in the top six.

Check out Desiderio's radio congratulations to Lawson at the end, he was really stoked for the result, perhaps even more than Liam it sounded. Really hope the strategy team bring their A-game tonight and don't butcher what has the potential to be a great result. Some more McLaren or Ferrari shenanigans up front and Liam could have a Hulk-type result.

I still wonder what Liam could have done with the RBR - Tsunoda had great pace in the RB but has floundered, as expected, in the main RBR... he received upgraded parts when he took over from Lawson at Suzuka so its a shame we couldn't see a direct comparison between his ability in both machines.. ultimately the RBR is showing its issues and perhaps the direction the team has taken wasn't the brightest for overall team points.

IIRC, the commentary stated Yuki has started 18th or worse in 4 of his last 5 starts. Thats a more reliable metric than Liams first two, and only two starts

I feel Liam should allow Max through as Max will overtake anyway. (well if RBR21 is as bad as it seems this weekend, and Racing Bulls are inherently more reliable) but let Max through, follow him and get the tow as much as possible. Defending Max reduces Liam's race/lap time. Its feasible that Liam could defend the good cars behind him, based on the facts that RB is solid and consistent, only 7 corners, and if there are battles up front that may compress the top guys, keeping him in touch

Crossing fingers and toes here. When Liam got a seat with NO notice, and most tracks he hadn't raced on, he got a lot of news bites. Thats gradually faded, although Yuki has now shown that its not a Liam issue. Yuki is being consistently out-everythinged by Racing Bulls.

In other news, Max and Mercedes. Toto has talked to Max, thats factual. Why not, he is the best driver on the grid and his car is not great. George has no contract but clearly he should have, so thats a lets wait for Max issue

Talk of maybe Kimi steps aside leaving a dream team, makes sense. Find Kimi a seat elsewhere in 2026, thats very doable. Or George replaces Max at RBR

I feel Max will go 2026. Red Bull has faded back, not unusual. There is no Newey and Wheatly and others, so its a stretch that Red Bull will regain a top top spot. Then there is a new engine, it seems tp me that Red Bull will embark on the rebuild over a few years. Will Mercedes do a 2014 next year? Probably not but they could, or at least ease up to McLaren. Thats far better than today for Red Bull

Given Max has overstated RB21, and in a Mercedes he will beat George and Kimi, makes sense that he goes to Mercedes, who is on a slow but gradual rise, will RBR is on a slow and gradual decline.

Ill go for Lando, as he is on form here, Oscar, then Charles.

Alternatively Oscar for Down Under, Lando, and Liam after early skirmishes up ahead lol

Liam, starting 6th, Max will get him, so 7th. He could hang on to 7th as the car is solid and stable here

I see a 26 Mercedes driver lineup of Kimi and Max. George is stuck; he's not Max and he's got history with him. Kimi seems to have the personality to work with and learn enough from Max to eventually become World Champion.

Merc is 4th best behind Ferrari most races, would be quite the gamble for Max to go there for 2026, I'm betting no change until after 2026.

Will be fascinating to see Fernando in a Newy designed Honda powered Aston...

Not sure if you're aware but 26 is a massive regulations change. Word on the street is that Mercedes has a large advantage over the other constructors. It could be a 14 situation - how we were 30 seconds ahead of everyone mainly because of the powertrain. That is why Max is thinking of jumping ship because Red Bull/Ford has a car that can't be rescued by his out of this world talent.

Drivers Parade live on YouTube at 11pm.

Piastri for the win after Lando does Lando things. Keeping everything crossed for Lawson to have his second points finish of the season, hopefully enough points to get ahead of smarmy Bearman on the Drivers table.

Lawson top scoring RB! Woohoo...kept Alonso behind the whole GP

Norris seems to be struggling... asking team for a lot of help and guidance... doesn't seem like he'll be able to beat Oscar for the championship

Max to Merc for 26? That'll be best...that way RB can then work to have a car that will be easier to drive and have 2 drivers to help them get back to the front...Merc will then suffer like RB, unless they found something in the new regulations that brings them far ahead again...

Well done Liam, I went to bed early in the hopes of getting up at 5am and watching it recorded. Instead my body had other ideas and I was wide awake at 12:50am so I headed to the lounge and watched it live.

Was a very good race to watch, really enjoyed the McLaren racing for the lead.

With the message about his front wing damage I wondered if there was some radio we weren't privy to where he asked about damage (e.g. went a bit wide and said check for damage). And it was around then we got the "need help" message too. I think this will give him a lot of confidence. Think the championship is far from over. But definitely between the McLaren pair.

Really solid weekend for Lawson. Don't think he could have done any better than he did.

Was a fun or interesting race. Bummer when Kimi took Max out, thats lost some fun racing. Ok, Liam got through so good. Then loved watching  Oscar pressurise Lando so Lando cracks, but he didnt, so well done there. Spent most of the race watching the gap between Liam and Alonso!

Liam, rock solid. Stepped up well this weekend, cross fingers that the confidence is up, he has melded into the car, so looking forward to upcoming races. next step is to match or better Hadjar. Lately he has been barely more than a 1/10 behind, and occasionally better

Colapinto wont last the season
