Great to see Liam hold his own without getting sloppy or aggressive.  Yuki by contrast was a total mess.  Solid points and Liam brought the car home in one piece.  I'm glad he got the promotion to Racing Balls VCARB now, should have been there all along.

Very telling Mercedes won't sign George, who's been doing ok this year.  Kimi and Max likely the dream team there.

Still hanging out for Aston to do something awesome next year.  I always saw Max heading there but that's even more of a gamble than moving to Mercedes.  Stroll has actually been doing ok at times.

Stroll and Lewis look very dejected.  Charles nicely done for the podium but Ferrari are so far off the pace. Again Ferrari race strategy/comms are terrible.  They really need to fire that engineer, he offers no confidence on the other end of the radio.  Ferrari looking for fastest race pace, but not putting their drivers in a position to benefit from any potential safety car inchidents etc.

McLaren are flirting with danger, with in this case Piastri nearly taking them both out in a locked up sliding mess.  It makes for interesting racing but their approach could hurt them if there was another successful team in the mix, which there isn't this year at this point.

I would suggest moving to Aston Martin or Mercedes are both much less of a gamble than staying with Red Bull for Verstappen at this point. Everyone says the RB21 is set up for Max and, okay, he can drive it pretty fast at times as a demonstration of his immense skill but you have to wonder if he would be consistently beating the Red Bull if he was in Stroll's car right now for example.

Great result for Liam. Watching from onboard at the start when you saw Borteletto come up on his left, while Antonelli shot past on the suicide mission on his right squeezing him with nowhere to go, then the bits of carbon fibre flying everywhere around Lawson's front right wheel ... well, it looked for all money like his front wing had been taken out and a cushion off the sofa might have gone in the general direction of the tv.

Alonso shadowed him for most of the race and, despite having DRS for a large part of it, he never looked likely to make a pass at any point. Lawson was awesome, never looked like making a mistake, deserved result for him.

Makes it very interesting for this weekend with the expected arrival of Lindblad for FP1 somewhere at Red Bull. The Brit had his first failure to score any points since Round 1 and has dropped from third to sixth in the F2 Championship. I wonder if they might throw him into Tsunoda's car and see if he is the boy-genius Horner and Marko think he is. Would be very unfair on the kid, but so would asking Lawson to step aside for a session after his great result.

Nice race to cap off the weekend with a solid effort from Liam. Hopefully he plays out the rest of the season with more solid results.

F1 TV commentator "Davide Valsecchi" belongs in purgatory. I literally cringe when he talks 😬 & reach for the mute button.

Cannot agree more - can’t stand that guy. If I’m watching delayed, I now FF through his stuff - otherwise mute like you. He seems a bit weird - when his co-presenters are talking, he’s looking elsewhere and waving his hands around as if he’s not listening. Then when it’s his turn he jumps in boots and all - all shouty. I find it very difficult to decipher what he’s saying so I have no idea if he knows his stuff or not.

Jvipers2: Lawson top scoring RB! Woohoo...kept Alonso behind the whole GP

Norris seems to be struggling... asking team for a lot of help and guidance... doesn't seem like he'll be able to beat Oscar for the championship

Max to Merc for 26? That'll be best...that way RB can then work to have a car that will be easier to drive and have 2 drivers to help them get back to the front...Merc will then suffer like RB, unless they found something in the new regulations that brings them far ahead again...

this F1 is a boring game. after the 1st corner, you have your winner, 2nd place, and 3rd place sealed.

Liam, yes i'm super stoked for him, but after Max got bowled he was P9 and he didn't overtake a single car and ended up P6. i have no words. that's just not motor racing.

Lando coming good? or one off ... we know in a week's time. and then holiday for everyone, and then Max signs for Mercedes, and George has no team ... and then the McLaren whose Mercedes engine doesn't blow up wins the title.

Which of the 5 cars ahead of Lawson do you imagine him overtaking? More to the point he stayed ahead of Alonso who has over 400 starts worth of experience. The single stop gained that pair their places.

I presume this guy is on F1TV coverage?

Sorry but Valsecchi is amazing and I will take his colour commentary over the 'sit around and agree with each other how great every British driver is' nonsense that the others put up on a regular basis. When he first started commentating on GP2 he was like a coiled spring, it was fantastic to actually have someone with actual, perceivable passion in the box.

Yep, a RB is not going to go head to toe with McLaren, Mercedes or Ferrari

Valsecchi was GP2 champion in 2012? Waving arms around while talking is part of the Italian accent πŸ˜†

Correct - but I was talking about waving them around before he starts talking - when he should be standing still, listening attentively and nodding courteously to his colleagues who are talking. πŸ˜€

I tend to agree, he is passionate, that's a good thing. A bit excited at times? Yes, but I prefer that to bias. I cannot stand Jensen and his Union Jack suit and tie

He's probably running through what he's about to say.

Asteros:

Not sure if you're aware but 26 is a massive regulations change. Word on the street is that Mercedes has a large advantage over the other constructors. It could be a 14 situation - how we were 30 seconds ahead of everyone mainly because of the powertrain. That is why Max is thinking of jumping ship because Red Bull/Ford has a car that can't be rescued by his out of this world talent.

The engines are much more tightly controlled than at the start of the turbo hybrid era, they don't want a repeat of (and I don't believe we will see) Merc up the road for years even with the engines turned down.

Also Renault was the only other option at the time wasn't it? Honda will be competitive. Red Bull/Ford and Audi are probably more dicey prospects but Red Bull has invested massively.

Yes.

Valsecchi, the main issue is he needs to slow down a tad in his delivery because of his accent.

I didn't think we would miss Will Buxton but I guess we do a tiny bit now...

More of Alex Brundle has been good. Palmer, Jacques and Coulthard are great.

I usually choose the F1TV commentary over the sky commentary but I do miss Rosberg being a savage (but that's the only thing I miss from the Sky commentary).
