Incidentally he’ll only serve a 2 week suspended suspension as he gets a further week reduction if he does some high tackle specific training.

Heh, that's going to help stop that from happening again!

Handle9: One had no impact, one left two players heavily concussed. In the context of foul play, which both were under the laws, then the judiciary has done its job. They don’t make the laws, they follow them.

There’s a matrix and they follow the process. It’s resulted in very consistent suspensions for the last few years.

...except in this specific instance which happens to be the one we are talking about?

It is indefensible to argue that an intentional headbutt should be treated as a less severe incident of foul play than a head-clash as the result of being stood up in the tackle zone by a change of direction by a far more mobile player.

The suspensions are the same for the professional and amateur game. It probably does have an impact in the amateur game.

Buck Shelford and a number of other pundits criticized the AB's for lack of skills execution.

Interestingly, the penalty's given to both teams were the same and I don't think it's reasonable to criticize a team who have spent most of their time on field with 13/14 people.  Defending for that long with that few men is going to cause more penalties and less attacking quality and surely skills execution drop?

Defensively we had about a similar tackle success percentage despite that.

Would have been nice to win, just I'd be pretty surprised if any team could have won that match. I'd suggest that most other teams would have conceded a much higher score.

I just don't think this test represents where either team was at.

How? How could Ta'avo have avoided this situation in the 0.35 seconds he had to adjust? What training do you provide a player to prevent that? Perhaps all defensive players should be crouched at the waist just in case?

You’re the one who is adamant that the way high tackles are administered is correct and the players need to adjust. You work it out.

I've *never* claimed that there are no unavoidable contacts. Stop trying to twist my words. I've never suggested players should be punished for accidental contact.

Most head contact is accidental.

Ringrose didn’t run into him, Ta’avao hit him very hard.

That's LITERALLY what happened, Ringrose is the one that changed direction and initiated the contact.

Nope. Go and watch the replay and listen to the decision making process. Ta'avao changed direction when he saw Ringrose. Peyper initially was going to call play on until Ta'avao changed direction.

I have an issue with careless and reckless. This was neither. It's a contact sport, so some injury due to collisions are inevitable. I've never said differently.

There is no way your second comment is true in isolation. Unless Ringrose was stationary, then they collided with two people moving. They ran into each other.

Objectively it's correct, both players were concussed by very heavy contact. There's head contact, high degree of danger, Ta'avao has initiated the contact.

Ta'avoa was chasing Lowe towards the sideline. If Ta'avao doesn't change direction to go straight upfield towards Ringrose there isn't contact. Ta'avao initiated the contact and as the tackler is responsible for his contact height.

That's the law. The referee found that to be the case as did the judiciary.

MABs tried to play too much running rugby in difficult wet conditions... in those conditions they needed to kick for position more, and didn't take the ball through enough phases.

Thought Stevenson's yellow card was a joke, the bloke was obviously trying to flick the ball up in an attempt to catch it, if he had he would've scored under the sticks... referees are dishing out cards like bloody lollies, it's ludicrous !

It was a clear yellow, the same as Smith and Perese during the Australia England games.

If you go for an intercept with one hand when there's a break you better catch it otherwise it's a yellow card.
