Jvipers2: Did you all catch the "subtle hint" on the max Merc saga?

Safety car is orange as well as the stars on the W16 engine cover

The subtle hints I saw was Max bypassing questions. Horner saying its more about 2027 then 2026 (so its real)

Max is going to Mercedes 2026, it would make sense that this starts after the summer break, he can bed in, and score WDC points, George or Kimi can bed in to the RB21.

Performance clause was be in top 3 drivers, or top 3 teams. Some Youtube sources with "reliable sources" suggest it is top 3 in drivers and top 2 in Constructors. Or similar. Both have not been reached.

Red Bull has lost KEY people. New engine coming, could be anything, likely not much. A medium term rebuild without Newey. Mercedes is stable, is often in contention. Max and George will score more points than George and Kimi (I highly rate Kimi) F1 is about results, that's it, no more and no less

2025 is doing and dusted for Mercedes and Red Bull, I suggest they bed the team in now, not March 2026

unless Max has already signed with Merc, i'm not sure why that would mean anything?

Interesting race now. Max running a low wing, fastest speed in high speed corners and the straight, 18th of 19 in slow speed. 8.5kph faster. He will have nice advantage if in front defending and behind if attacking. Might be an issue if any rain but he is the rainmeister.

Bummer that Liam missed out. Not sure if they are running a lower wing also, hope so.

Max to win, the low wing will be a big help at this track

Oscar 2nd, fast and reliable

Lando third, the odd error popping up.

Ferrari next

Mercedes next

Liam a point

Sounds like horrific wet weather earlier in the day, but forecast to clear by F1 race.
Maybe wet inters to start and clears sort of thing, but will see.

Max running a very low downforce wing would be really impacted by a wet track, having less downforce in the corners.
Will see how this plays out.

Separately I saw the F1 movie today with the family at an imax and it was pretty good.

Park thoughts of a serious F1 documentary and just go with the flow sort of content. Enjoyed the cameos and commentators over explaining everything so everyone can get an idea what’s going on 😂

Will be something that records this time in F1 history well though.

Oh it is spicy with the weather. Inters only last so long on a dry track. Parts of the track are really wet, rain is coming.

Lawson, aggressive but consequences again.

Really enjoayble race with plenty of action this morning. So many safety cars! Liam unlucky, but like Max last week wrong place wrong time.

Oscar knew what he was doing slowing up and making Max's tires cold. Got the desired result but cost him the win. McLaren just unstoppable

Nico Hulkenberg! His result was fully deserved. Sure in a day like today you need some luck but honestly he didnt put a foot wrong really and deservedly best of the rest. Especially keeping the gap to Hamilton at the end.

Piastri's penalty was a touch harsh... and I wonder how much Verstappen "milked" it. But its called a safety car so I imagine you have to drive safely and was judged not to have.

Yes, go Nico

The rules behind braking behind the safety car are clear and public, according to Brundle he was way outside the requirements, so a mistake. He was very miffed, a small tactic that cost him an easy win

Good exciting race as usual in Silverstone, made more interesting with the unpredictable weather

Unlucky for many, especially Oscar...but well done to Nico
Sauber finally on the right track once they announced they're becoming Audi

I fear we won't be seeing him next year in afraid. Not sure why he has issues in F1. Hopefully they give him another year but I'm not sure.

He's going fine lately, up there in FP and early on. Bit stiff in the race, but many drivers got caught out

Lawson could have stayed out wider on that corner. Safer, you don’t win on lap 1&2.

Piastri dumping the anchors in those conditions is just rude, regardless of other precedents.
Real accordion risk of cars pilling up behind him with limited visibility in the wet after that.
Dude pulling the racing dirty mind tricks like he’s Sonny Hayes at APXGP.
