A decent 3 week break in the schedule now. Belgian GP on the 28th July
Panasonic 65GZ1000, Onkyo RZ730, Atmos 5.1.2, AppleTV 4K, Nest Mini's, PS5, PS3, MacbookPro, iPad Pro, Apple watch SE2, iPhone 15+
Jaxson:
Lawson could have stayed out wider on that corner. Safer, you don’t win on lap 1&2.
Piastri dumping the anchors in those conditions is just rude, regardless of other precedents.
Real accordion risk of cars pilling up behind him with limited visibility in the wet after that.
Dude pulling the racing dirty mind tricks like he’s Sonny Hayes at APXGP.

Combat and Chaos
Watched a few post race interviews tonight. Lando super happy, of course. Haven't heard him mention how the penalty helped. Probably should have.
Oscar super downbeat, as the race he should have won was taken away.
On that he braked roughly 218kph to 51kph. Thats deemed erratic and got a 10 second penalty. The earlier restart, the braking was literally 1kph different so it was essentially identical. No penalty. Hard to understand that
In the interview with the three of them, Lando seemed to look a little uncomfortable listening to Oscar

You don't have to go back to the previous restart, Piastri says he braked on each of the 5 previous laps in that session behind the safety car the difference being the late switching off of the safety car light. I don't know if there is published data showing when brakes were applied and lights turned off.
I think regardless it looked really sketch given the conditions. You could see other drivers taken by surprise in the background give the spray. Just a silly thing to do trying to get a clear start drop on those behind given the conditions on the day.

Disagree
I dont agree with Oscar's penalty but for different reasons.
He went from high speed to low speed, braking at 60psi, thats apparently against the rules, so the penalty was correct. BUT he did that on the earlier restart so why wasnt that penalised?? Would have been consistent with the Stewards, but it wasnt. Would have helped his race immensely.
Early call by the safety car is just a nuance.
Max's antics?? All drivers from Oscar to the 19th guy want to accelerate to warm the rears, and brake to warm all tyres plus the brakes. Nothing to see there.
Stewards inconsistency is the issue. Do I get a ticket for speeding, but not when I speeded earlier?? I dont see the Police doing that, but the Stewards do
Horner is sacked
Menkies replaces him
Batman:Horner is sacked
Menkies replaces him
Yeah just saw that but it was a joke site so I wasn't sure if I believed it.
Wow.
Seriuosly I'm just thinking ahead here, if they lose Max and Christian and everyone else, that team with two other drivers (who aren't Max) is going to fall from grace from drivers championship to back markers almost overnight.
Yuki is now soul crushed at the back of the grid with no idea how to improve.
Wow.
And not more Survice to Drive appearances for Christian.
Hey actually wasn't his private employment case re the phone scandal coming up soon too? Team had brushed it under the carpet but he had to fight that one out still, it hadn't gone away from memory.
Apparently Jos and Horner seen arguing at Silverstone.
With the Mercedes rumours running rampant, my ill informed speculation is that Max said either Christian goes or I go.
Max is now running the team.
Well, well, well.
Mekies to take over as TP with Alan Permaine as Liam's new boss. Surely this was a "he goes or we go" ultimatum from the Verstappen camp?
Hope this is good news for Liam's future in F1 next season and beyond.
thermonuclear:
Surely this was a "he goes or we go" ultimatum from the Verstappen camp?
Or potentially news Verstappen has signed for (presumably) Mercedes was the final straw for the board. I mean, you take Verstappen out of that team and what have you got? A car at the back of the field really.
Whatever the reason... the team is falling apart (and has been for a while). They should also send Marko off too.

Verstappen's management are saying they were "informed in advance" of the decision regarding Horner's sacking. That tends to suggest Max is still in the Red Bull camp for the moment.
The guy that needs to be sacked next is Wache. Horner has previously nailed his colours to the Wache mast and his car has got progressively worse to drive to the point where even Max can't drag it to the front consistently now. Eddington has built a decent, if unremarkable, car at Racing Bulls. He got dragged back to Milton Keynes at the beginning of the year for this "Plan B" call-up surely.
Anyway, career best result for Liam, career best result for Hulkenberg, Horner sacked ... that's three of the seven signs of the apocalypse now.
