I'm sitting on the train heading out to Homebush at the moment. It's a beautiful night in Sydney and there's a real buzz on the train. Fingers really asked for a belter tonight.

I wonder what the AB cult disciples think. The writing was on the wall, that this team doesn't know what its first team is.

Still got time to fix that for the RWC.

But the world have seen how to beat them for 2 weeks in a row.

The Aussie bench was impressive.

Wayne Barnes was a bit out of his depth. I thought he missed many infringements on both sides.

Your right. Error ridden, no direction. SBW, throw the ball don't kick it, twice. They looked pretty darn good after the scratchy start, then went down hill. Also looked better when desperate at the end.  M-S and Ben Smith played great. Thats all I can recall. When they gel it will be great, and discovering a new playmaker in M-S, made this match worth it for me

Oops, the Aussies. Also played scratchy, but the best team won.

I remember there was a time we had a rotation policy ... two RWCs in a row. Lost both times at the QFs.

The Aussies were hampered by their hopeless 9. Once he left, they took control ... with 14 men!

We were outplayed in most positions I thought. We showed some good touches, but seriously how many of our scrums didn't go well (Though I thought Australia were illegal at least twice.

I think we should consider ourselves lucky that Phipps had such a terrible game or we could have been on the end of an embarrassing scoreline.

I can't recall the last time I saw Carter play so badly.

Hope Ben Smith is ok.

His problem was his kicking, most other stuff including defense was ok, but his kicking was terrible. That has next to nothing to do with the opposition. His slow lead up to conversions nearly resulted in 2 charge downs. Expect every team to do it now. He will have to speed up.

That was unreal.

Id like to see Beauden Barrett doing more than filling in the the last 15, he is an impact player. The three Smiths, Barrett, we have great impact players. Mistakes and didn't gel, but the positive is getting cut down a few notches, with time to get a bollocking and work hard on being in sync. And Milner-Skudder might well be the next big thing. Plenty of positives there.

I'll be more convinced of MS if he puts together 5 more performances. One of his tries was basically a gimme, any wing could have closed it. Ben Smith was the reason that his first try got scored.

The second was better evidence of HIM, as he did manage to get the ball down.

I expect the AB's to hand out a thrashing next weekend. They will play with Anger.

Like some have already said, they just didn't sync properly. I am very worried about the quality of passes which have a tendency to float upward, making the next receivers job almost impossible if the defense is up quickly. I said it a few times and I saw evidence of it all season during the S16.

I am also concerned our front row isn't dominating or being as physical as we should be, it's slowing our ball down.

All in All very disappointing.

Australia deserved to win.

Ruck clear outs were terrible, meant slow ball and lots of turnovers.  Read, McCaw & Kaino were out played by their opposites well and truly.  Just waiting on this so called 'upcoming form' thats been promised.....  I go back to early Super rugby form, where Pocock was shown the door in the super final by Savea, this is how you manage his turnover ability but our three had no idea.

Carter messed up some basics badly.  Two failed kick off's, 1 failed kick for touch and just an average attacking mindset.  He had one great play setting up the try, but otherwise ho hum.

It was disappointing that Smith got injured because it meant there was no opportunity to play BB in the play-maker role.  His passing was beautifully flat the few times he had an opportunity.  Aaron smith had a game to forget, cost us two tries.  Injuries meant he couldnt be replaced, and with 3 mins to go when he was TJ spoons it. All you can do is shake your head.

I thought Savea had a very ordinary game, and his running back to defend the line with the try scored by them in the corner was just utter laziness.

NMS what can I say, some of you owe an apology!  This was a man with fine form that continued it on debut at international rugby level.  Third player to do it this year. Makes you wonder if out of best form for several year should have had more weight on the team choices.  Its pretty clear injurys aside the back three is NMS, Savea & Smith.

after sleeping on it here is my analysis

Australia - didn't get carried away, did what they were told. not high on skills, but very dedicated the the cause. made many many errors when basic skill was called upon, but didn't give up and kept heads up.
7 + 8 dominated our 6 and 7. 9 - 10 had no idea what there were doing, until their replacements came on and ran the ABs off the park. their 12 - 13 were solid. their wingers are really old and more boxers than wingers, but very experienced.

ABs - brimming with confidence. have their own brands, youtube stars, supreme in skills. no idea what there were doing when the ball can't be run. became one dimensional. 8 did the job of 6 7 8, and stole lots of wallaby lineouts. 9 was ok but 10, well you could put a traffic cone there. missed a tackle that led to a try. 12 - 13 were ok. outside backs - didn't see savea - maybe twice or thrice. but there were solid there.

can't comment on scrums. scrums are controlled by refs not players.
ref - heavily sided the ABs in the first half until Steven Moore got into his head then he was more equal, and his mistakes affected both sides rather than one.

Brilliant game. Australia deserved to win. They outplayed us and deserve the credit. Well done to them.

Dan Carter in my mind gave the game away. What on earth was going on with the kicking? Poor show.

Brilliant game? Full of errors on both sides. Oz made less and were more solid. Cant blame DC, do we expect him to nail every kick? In this game had he kicked better he would have insulated a poor skill, timing and decision making showing by the AB's.
