Agree with all that. My 4am wake up call dragged out, Sky had another feed start a bit later, so re watched lap 4 to 18 again.

I set mysky to record the race and it cut off at lap 23 due to all the delays at the start. Thankfully the early morning replay was up to lap 20 when I switched over so just watched that.

Next time I set an overnight race I'll record the post race show in case the race runs long.

I didnt realise there was a 3 hour window which includes the 2 hours max race distance. Glad they took up another recording

That was some drive by Oscar to run those mediums for 30+ laps at that pace. Great win!

Nice to see Liam finish in the points too, overall a pretty boring race though. Straight into Hungary this weekend!

Yeah F1 has an issue with their tyres lasting so long.  With the removal of refueling the tyres become the main strategy option you can use during the race.
At the moment, without safety cars it's all a bit processional.

Both races this weekend had racing lap 1 overtakes and that went on to finish the race in same order.
It's kinda sad to see how big the cars are and how much we're still talking about dirty air etc, given the last reg changes were supposed to be about addressing that.

Liam looking really solid and I heard that's the last of the tracks he's new to now, so has raced at each one now to come before.
Hamilton had a fun race but was a higher performing car out of position.

Onto the next one please.

Last race before the summer break, whats your predictions? i've got Mclaren 1-2, Mercedes 3. Lawson will scrape home for points with a 9th or 10th.  I think racing bulls said last week their car should favour the hungry circuit.

Formula1.com has gone to the pits for news articles since its website changes

Any recommendations ? Sky F1 seems to have more and good content but its 95% videos

In other news, Max is staying at RBR for 2026. Its a gamble to pick out of the hat who will come out running with the new regs

2027 he can choose RBR, Mercedes or Ferrari, as I figure Lewis will retire end of 2026. he can't match Charles, he wont be any sharper as the years pile up

IMO Max will have opportunities 2027

Hard to look past the McLarens at the moment, they are the class of the field in all conditions now it seems. Piastri to beat Norris again. As much as I like and support Norris, he just doesn't seem to have a hard enough edge to get the job done. Piastri basically gifted Norris the Silverstone win otherwise he would be even further behind right now. Potential for Norris to never be a World Champion if Piastri is in the other garage as is scheduled for the next several years.

Lawson has scored points in two of his last three weekends and I'd like to see that trend continue for the rest of the year. Would be stoked for him to go into the month off with some more points in the bank. As mentioned by langi27 Racing Bulls think this could be a good circuit for them, though I get the impression Lawson doesn't like slow speed corners and struggles to find the quickest line through them.

Hopefully he can beat Hadjar in Qualifying, he identified in the press conference this morning that that is where his issue is moving forward. He was only 0.018 of a second off Hadjar in quali at Spa, which is definitely preferrable to the 2-3 tenths it has been typically. He needs to reel that quali deficit in before the end of the season. With the progress he's been making it feels like he's likely to start 2026 in a Racing Bulls seat now.

Will this be Colapinto's last race weekend at Alpine? He hasn't really looked likely since he got the promotion and there's a bit of the "De Vries" about him, a couple of results last year that flattered to deceive and he's actually not up to the task. Big sponsorship money might save him but you have to feel pretty sorry for Doohan who looked much better than the Argentinian.

I prefer the-race.com. Tends to be fewer more in-depth articles than reporting on every rumour (though inevitably the comments section fills up with "Oh you just hate [my preferred driver], why are you reporting this nonsense."). Mark Hughes in particular is must-read journalism. Podcasts are good too, news ones are good, the tech show is usually insightful (albeit sometimes rehashing previous content) and I really like the Bring Back V10s retrospective/nostalgia listen.

As you'd expect, usual pleas for Patreon. But they seem to have struck a really good balance between having a good range of stuff ad-supported and the Patreon just additional content rather than required to make it even a little useable.

Qualifying today was exciting - more exciting than some of the recent processional F1 races.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

At least the first lap might be exciting, then DRS and a non overtaking track will kick in

Liam was decent, was always 3 to 6/10 behind Hadjar through FP but took a step forward in Quali

Great effort from Leclerc in quali this morning but expect normal service to be resumed in the race with Piastri mugging him off the line. Weather has the potential to make it more interesting though.

Solid effort from Lawson, finally he's clawed one back in the qualifying battle with Hadjar. It sounds like the Frenchman didn't hook up his final lap in Q3 but the same could be said of Lawson on other occasions this season so fair's fair.

I hope he can get a good launch off the line tonight and keep the chasers behind. He has demonstrated an excellent ability to defend several times already this year and isn't prone to making mistakes so he could be on to bank some points again before the break. Make laying on some beach in the south of France that much more enjoyable.
