Yet another red card threshold tackle from Owen Farrell, yet again ignored by officials. One wonders who he has compromising photos of to be able to get away with this time and time again. Hopefully, the citing commission will grab this and he gets a long time on the sidelines to consider his ongoing crappy tackling technique.

It wasn’t “ignored” by the officials, they screwed up the communication around it.

I’ve only seen the tackle from one angle and from that angle it’s not a clear cut red card, it could get a red or a yellow depending on where the initial contact point is.

Red card all day - direct shoulder contact to the face (chin), no attempt to wrap arms, tackling up not down.

Replay of it

Had to chuckle at this headline 'The RFU will make sure Owen Farrell is available for Six Nations'

No wrap? How did he get his arms around him then?

The wrap is clearly post impact. It's an average wrap at best.

Brad Weber heading overseas to France. Probably sensible, I don't see him making first choice half back at test level here. He was pretty decent until he was injured, and has been good for the Chiefs, but he doesn't really have any x-factor. Nothing that separates him from any other half back in NZ.

Brad Weber is the second best halfback in this country. At times last year he was the best.

Massive loss for the world cup, but fair enough decision on his part while they stick with Finlay Christie who did nothing to justify his place above Weber last year.

We know you don't rate Perenara, so who is your second and third choice halfback on form? This of course assumes Aaron Smith can retain number one spot after his hot and cold performances last year.

I can't think of a single moment in 2022 I can recall Weber doing anything special, I can barely recall him playing. Smith was hot and cold, I agree, but I can recall him playing.

Fakatava is heir apparent (assuming he can remain fit). Weber isn't leaving till after the RWC. Smith will retire after RWC.

We are thin in Half Back and past the RWC I am really not sure what the plan is.

Do *you* rate Perenara with his ponderous delivery and far worse than average pass? He has some excellent attributes as a rugby player, but would be much better at 12 or 13, though obviously that's never happening.

So what if the wrap is post impact? There’s a wrap as part of the tackle. If it’s 10cm lower no one mentions anything about it.

ROFL. If it was 10cm lower it wouldn't have been a red card incident.

If it was actually a shoulder charge it would have been a yellow card. It wasn’t.

No, because it was Farrell it wasn't. Almost every other player on the planet would be spending some time on the sidelines as they should. He made contact with the players head.

Nonsense. It didn’t get reviewed because of a screw up by the referee and TMO not because of who he is.

That kind of good 'fortune' seems to follow him around.

On the plus side, common sense seems to have prevailed and he has been cited at least.

But he never gets suspended for anything.

When he gets 3 weeks I guess that’ll be the next outrage.
