wratterus: You do know you can switch to the international feed for the Sky Sports UK commentary right?

Yes, know this, don't mind Crofty and Brundle at all, or Ted Kravitz either for that matter.  Just got used to the F1TV team over the past couple of seasons, quite enjoy Buxton, Palmer, Collins, Barretto on their coverage.  It's still early with Jacques and maybe I'll warm up to him more as their F1 guy.  Just found him a bit too "hyper" with his commentary in F2.

But, as you say, there's always the Sky team on the international feed if I don't warm up to him.

I'm living my best life currently, the cricketers are getting it done and the F1 is back.  Wish I had a bit more time to sit on the sofa and enjoy the sport, but full-on at work atm.

Separate issue, has anyone tried F1 Multiviewer? https://multiviewer.app

Seems like an _awesome_ solution. Almost too awesome though so wondering if there are fishhooks. Clearly its not an official app but anything else?

Tried the F1 Multiviewer on FP1 this morning. Pretty impressed. It's free (though not open source). Basically seems to do two things:

  • Lets you open multiple official F1 streams simultaneously, and cleverly syncs them up for you so you can (for example) have both the race and driver cam open at the same time "live"/at the same time in the replay
  • You can do the above with the official F1 telemetry (e.g., timing tower and live map). Or Multiviewer also seems to have its own way of repackaging this data so it is a little more useful and more friendly on screen

Works best on widescreen or multiple screen set ups. There are some shots on Twitter of some very impressive mutli screen set ups!

Planning on using this for quali tomorrow. Would definitely recommend to any F1 data nerds!

EDIT: Should say, does not let you circumvent anything you shouldn't, you have to have an F1 TV subscription to make it work.

Interesting quali. Prior to Q3, and ignoring Max, RBR nt far ahead of Aston, Aston not far ahead of Ferrari, Mercedes not too far back from Ferrari. Q3 was a bit scrappy from most drivers, so I still see the pecking order across the top 4 as close-ish, Merc not as close up, but not that far back. Max makes RBR look more dominant than they probably are. Pity Stroll had a poor last sector in Q3 last run.

A Max podium is on but Aston are quick and Ferrari are quick too, assuming they stay in one piece.

Reliability seems an issue for many teams

Many of pushed the boundaries of the engine performance knowing that this is locked in until 2026 but reliability upgrades can be done therefore unlocking more performance overall... Suspect teams will suffer quite badly early on and then slowly improve and finally have robust engines for next year.

Yes and the latter part of the season will be based on penalties.

This is the interesting bit for Mercedes as it is rumoured that they didn't do much to push the engine performance and instead went for reliability... IF the other teams around them suffer penalities and performance issues then that could give them a helping hand while they somehow fix their chassis/aero direction... however it could leave them at an engine performance disadvantage over the next few seasons.

Not really sure. The engine works well for Aston. I feel its solely due to aero for Mercedes. The design stops max aero benefit being achieved. RBR have never had a powerful engine, when Seb was winning, RBR were midfield in the speed traps, but the design and aero overcame that. They say Ferrari has the most power, Honda and Mercedes close. Should Ferrari keep the cars in one piece, thats interesting.

Race Prediction:

Max will struggle as the teams are compressed, so field spread will be less, unlikely to have much time in clean air. DRS train wont help. What will work for Max and Charles, and the others to be honest will be the red flags. Pitted then red flag, oops, that type of thing

Sergio should win, and while he is decent, he's not a LeClerc/VERS/Alonso. Should Charles, Sergio, Fernando have no reliability issues, those three could be a real dogfight. Sergio has the best car, Charles has the fastest car, Aston has the best driver of that trio.

George could be there, preserve the tyres, wait for opportunities if the front guys battle each other.

Hope my series link picked up the race for this weekend, it's on 54 for some reason while 55 shows Supercars replays from two weekends ago.

My series link started during the middle of Martin Brundle's pre-start grid chats, and ended 41 minutes later after the start but before the first lap was finished, i.e. almost no actual race at all. I checked, it wasn't the "pre-start", that was a separate recording
😡😡😡

Another sky<
Like above I got 35minutes of the man race coverage (2 minutes actual race) despite booking it specifically.

Ended up changing channels where the race was running delayed out of luck..

Agh! My series link didn’t pick it up at all although it did for the three practice sessions and the former race weekend. Sigh SKY.
