JPNZ: If any winger needs dropping its clearly Telea who was absolutely woeful on defense in that game. England's first try he had a head start on Feyi-Waboso and was closer to where the ball landed yet he still didn't make the effort to get back on defense and was beaten to the ball hence the try.

Go and watch it again. Telea was 20m infield marking 3 players coming round the corner. Characterising him as not making an effort is inane.

Ive watched it over 20 times, how about you watch it again.

Fact - The ball landed closer to him than Feyi-Waboso when the ball was kicked. Note his pedestrian turn once the ball is kicked. 20M infield sure, but the ball didn't land on the sideline so thats not an issue. Got any excuses for the 2nd try too?

BTW I'm not advocating for either of them to be dropped Caleb clarke would have not even been in the frame. Nanai Seturo or Reece would have been interesting.

Despite his tries Telea had a terrible game on defense. I don't see how even one eyed blues fans can argue with that.. Maybe I can lol

You’re being almost entirely disingenuous at this point. Omitting that one winger had to turn and retreat compared to the Feyi Waboso running full speed in a straight line makes you look like you’re grinding an axe rather than trying to make a reasonable point. There’s very little point in continuing the discussion

Fair enough, if you think he had a good game defensively then I'm okay with that. Opinions are just that.

I'm sick of watching opposing players fake injuries to slow the game down and get their breath back.

New rule:  If a member of your team is receiving on field medical care for an 'injury', then the rest of you are doing burpies at stipulated pace the whole time, otherwise the 'injured' player gets binned.

MikeAqua:

If the ABs respond to England's rush defense with repeated chip and chase (organised, well executed chasing), and other over-top tactics, we will unravel their game plan and wear them out.

Beaudie is obviously a GZ member 😄.  Dude came on and unleashed hell.

Replacing Reece for Clarke because you are worried about defense is slightly... amusing :)

Well, if you're going to just overlook defense suddenly then the case for Clarke becomes much more compelling. Unless we're only holding certain things against certain players because it's convenient for our arguments.

Sad to See Norm Hewitt has passed away from MND. Only 55 years old. RIP Norm.

Your reasoning for suggesting Clarke over Reece was at least largely because of his defensive lapses in a single game this year (Despite being exceptional on defence for the Crusaders all season long and an excellent workrate in his two matches for the AB's).

Clarke is far worse defensively than Reece. Reece is far more agile than Clarke as well. You'll often find Reece in the midfield helping out when he isn't needed on the wing.

The entirety of last year, Clarkes entire strategy was to run in a straight line, directly into contact, where he was often turned over.

MND is one of the most horrific diseases that can beset a human being. It would have been a mercy I imagine.

RIP Norm.

I’m glad to see you agree that Clarke has improved significantly and played really well this year.

Yeah, but not as well as Reece. Nor as consistently. So if we are picking on form (especially defensively, where Clarke is still average being generous) then Clarke doesn't replace Reece. He potentially could replace Te'lea though. Not saying that's how it will be, but on form.....

It’s funny how form counts when players from one team are playing well but less so for players from other teams.

What's not funny, is you completely destroying a meaningful discussion with constant sarcasm and unpleasant tone. Get a grip!

If we consider form, then Reeces form this year, surpasses Clarkes. If we consider consistency, then Clarke isn't in frame, as he has had 2 good years and 2 poor years (Last year he was arguably the worst winger in NZ).

Reece is consistently a strong performer. Stephenson has been more consistent as well.

Clarke has played well this year, still has a ways to go (namely on defense and IMO being less wooden), but he deserves a chance, which he will get.

This is a bane of all rugby, especially internationals. The game slowed down to the point of boredom just so the injured players team can have a rest. It ruins the flow of the game and the spectacle. They should take a leaf out of the NRL and if the player is not directly in the way of play then they play on. Watch how quickly they make it back to the line or are substituted when their team is one player short.

Serious Injuries or HIA excluded of course.
