George too good, well deserved

McLaren argie-bargie?  Papaya Rules state they can race but no contact, there was contact. If roles were reversed, Oscar would be told to give the place back. I'm seeing a Mark Webber/Oscar chat where the deal is now, there is no deal re Papaya Rules, race Lando as if he was any other car.  Webber has been there before

Good win for Russell, has cut out the mistakes he used to have in earlier seasons and is a pretty solid driver now. Will be interesting to see how those contract negotiations go, not sure who has the upper hand there.

Decent result for Verstappen considering it's his "bogey" track. Sounded like he was driving a Ford Cortina from some of his radio comments but still got it home in P2 so the Championship dream could still be alive, especially if things fall apart between Norris and Piastri as is seeming more likely by the day.

Lawson had a crap race, which seemed to be largely determined by the crap strategy. Running too long on Mediums in the hope of a Safety Car always seemed like a very low percentage play, I dunno why they thought that was a good idea. The drivers are all pretty competent, especially at this point in the season, no obvious Logan Sargeant's to trigger a SC. Disappointing, especially with Hadjar having an engine issue and the potential to out-shine his teammate. Finishing three places lower than you started in that car says the strategy was well off where it should have been.

Still nine points-paying starts to go for him I suppose. COTA up next, another track he has scored points at. And, a double-header finally, not a fan of one race every fortnight. Still, a good amount of time for the McLaren papaya dish to sit on the stove and simmer away. That's gonna turn ugly when both drivers realise this might be their one shot at a WDC for a while if the regs mix all the teams up next season.

Lando has shown now that Papaya rules are in the bin, Oscar has now learnt where the rules sit, so he now has a clear head that's not wasted on these silly rules

McLaren made their own bed with two drivers but no number one.  You can do that (see Ferrari for example) when the stakes aren't that high and it's racing for best overall team result, but it falls apart when it gets like this.  Good to see Lando being a bit more aggressive, but it always comes with a risk.  Lando really is a talent but the emotions and nice guy personality become obstacles where Oscar is more consistent and ruthless.

Surprisingly clean (and a bit boring) race considering the temps there but most brought it home well and few failures of gear etc.

i say let them race. WCC already won no need to protect the team.

So in the best car Lando bottled quali, managed to piss off Max in quali and Oscar with the lap 1 incident.

Lucky Max doesn't hold grudges oh wait... Gloves off now for Oscar.

Not the first time this year, maybe there was no decent gap to come out into.

I think McLaren is trying to play a neutral party and doesn't show they have a favourite.

Imagine if Lando allowed Oscar to pit first "to cover off Charles", it would've been Monza all over again...I'm sure Oscar won't be letting Lando pass and race him given the Lap 1 incident

Lawson and Sainz did similar runs on mediums. Lawson pitted 1st but came out behind Albon who was apparently asked to slow down to help Sainz who stayed out 1 more lap.

Absolutely that's what McLaren are doing, and I had heard that with Mark Webber as manager there's a clause in Oscars contract about no favourites/no number 2 driver status.  All rumours but might have some basis as to why they're just so neutral.

Oscar did the same to Lando in an earlier race, sneaking a pass where it wasn't expected from a team mate, and if I recall correctly Lando had to go off track to avoid a collision it was so aggressive.  Same in reverse now.

Also couldn't believe my ears asking Lando if it was ok if Oscar pitted first?!  Are they really doing that again?  Leading car should always get the benefit of a newer rubber.  Think in this race there were many strategies hanging out for a safety car inchident that would have gifted a faster pit stop, but it never really came.  Liam seems to have fallen into that category, racing long on older tyres looking for a quick stop and no traffic window that just never came.

the best way to remain neutral is to let them race.

That's pretty much what happened here.

You reckon?

Well, yes they did, but the issue is in the past it was flip flop for "fairness", which over time was in Lando's favour. Had Oscar passed in Singapore it would be change positions. Media wise this has been raised often since Singapore. Bias? Fair? Papaya Rules? (which were broken by McLaren. (Race hard race fair but no contact)

Methinks the gloves are off now. Oscar will race for himself, change positions? No. Get told off, but thats ok, he can justify it, and he gets the points. Fire me if you like

Looking forward to Lando and Oscar taking each other out in the remaining races and Max winning the drivers championship.

The more the gloves come off between Norris and Piastri, the more potential for disaster that takes one or both of them out of a race. All of which plays right into Verstappen's hands. Piastri just needs to hold his nerve as the blowtorch goes on the y-fronts, pick his battles and not let it get to him if Norris can close the gap up even further.

Would be a season for the ages if McLaren stuff this up and Verstappen comes through the middle for the W in the end.
