oh no.....this is an awful decision. Imagine having Lawrence Stroll breathing down your neck. Engineers make terrible business leaders. They would have been better to put Horner in that role. The politics alone make the role a nightmare. He will end up doing 10% engineering work and the rest is just BS sales, marketing, publicity, internal management, media, sponsorship engagements.

Throughout my working life the experience has been that nobody is ever quite as good or bad as they are made out to be. Newey has made a great career out of being the expert "saviour" in the background, known to many but not quite at the top and in charge or responsible for it all. Perhaps he is the greatest engineering mind of recent times.

He's going to find being the guy the buck actually stops with a big change. Really can't have wanted Horner joining the team to agree to this.

From what I read at f1.com all of those points you mentioned will be with Stroll, Newey will do what Newey does, and the current team principal will focus on integration of the power unit etc

I own his how to build an F1 car book and it's interesting.  This is likely a position he wanted to cross off in his career, but I do hope he continues the book again in future to include these last years as they're sure to be good too.  2026 means new regs and each team has a chance to progress, often disproportionately, or fall backwards like Mercedes did under this last set of ground effect regulation years.

is it unexpected? he's been doing this more often than not for the entire year. from race 1 to now.

let's hope he sends Marko a nice Christmas present, and also talking less helps

Lawson is just too inconsistent, driving like he's been told he's done this weekend. His radio messaging indicated he was nowhere with the car set-up. Meanwhile Hadjar was on it again, only missed SQ3 due to track limits. Tsunoda looked solid as well.

In F2 Lindblad was schooled by his rookie teammate Tsolov by 6/10ths. The Bulgarian qualified in P7 compared to Lindblad's P17. Will be hacked off if Lindblad makes the jump to F1 when he's really shown nothing this season in a weak F2 field to deserve the promotion.

He may well be done, or has had hints. However Yuki is the same, and more so, race by race.

This quali, it seems the issue isnt any driver its the setup they got given, its on song or it isnt. Cant really drive around that on this track

Having a laugh at the memes that RB gave the wrong car to Yuki...
But Max having Yuki's car still did a good job one place behind...

Inconsistent? Yuki is usually WELL back, so he's inconsistent. Maybe Yuki beat Max as Yuki is amazing? Actually, Yuki is very consistent, you work it out...

Why would RB sabotage him? They want points.

Yuki said the car is good. Max cannot manage it. Cleary given Yuki is tier 2 at best, its not a driver issue. Apart from the one here that bags Liam each race

Don’t really think Lawson is inconsistent, I think the car setup for the track is. It possibly is the way he describes to the engineers on what needs tweaking to gain performance maybe inconsistent (or simply wrong), but I think he’s on it every lap (there has been the odd slip up where he goes too wide and his lap time deleted, but he’s not the only one) but the margins are so fine so the car changes have to be pretty damn precise to gain that extra 0.2s

In saying that I do think he is the sort of driver who generally needs to warm into some fast lap times.

I’m looking forward to getting my Maranello shifter kart out next weekend, it accelerates 0-60kmph same as an F1 car such a beast to drive. Gave me a new found respect for F1 drivers when I first bought it as even after just 10 laps you’re completely shattered lol
