Reports where saying it was supposed to be dry but overcast... If its dry the merc will be off in to the distance; think they'll run red boots to give them initial sprint and grip and then use their speed advantage to get a 1-2... if wet then its all open... Lewis would be favourite but Max will be up there, especially at the start... but then if its too wet they start behind the safety car in which case then it will probably be a lewis/max 1-2 barring any technical failures.

Say if Merc run red shoes, can RBR also running red shoes, change at last minute? I gather it will be cooler than hotter, so Merc rules, and that's ok. The race behind Merc is a good watch this year. I.e. award Merc the Constructors then ignore them so we can watch the rest :-)

No, I think once they've decided that is it and they have to submit prior to going to grid so no teams will know until they see them on the car... I'm looking forward to places 1-10 in this race plus the rogue pink panther further back

Thanks, I'll be up at 4-30am!  Early night, start at 7. Im hoping Russell can hang on and benefit from others for a few points. Id also like to see Ocon be up there. I  loving this season, much to see behind the Constructors winners...

Good race, good action. Perez was great, Albon was poor, I like him but he has to go

Verstappen got a bit of winglet damage, over the kerbs I presume, and he was just loosing time plus he lost his tyres earlier so Valteri was able to scamper past him.

Loved Perez chasing down the pack though, did very well until the end when he clipped albon and that was that... lucky to finish 5th in the end!

Lando is awesome, love his approach and the appeal of a genuinely nice person... may need to harden a little to become a great... Russell only has himself for putting what was a stellar qualifying performance in the bin... he may have not held on to the midfield position but he would have done better than his team mate by quite a long way.

The midfield is tight and there is a lot of talent there, doesn't have to be Lewis vs Max to be fun.

I like the lewis/max position for the pure balls and immense talent but a lot of the good overtakes and silly driving occurs further back, just a shame that the race director normally focus' on the first 4 and their genuinely boring races.

I find that the Lewis Max fight is what I want to see but never happens.

I don't think it can happen really in that sense, but I was more meaning about the lap times and the consistency in their drives and approaches... but it is a bit stale due to the merc being so good and lewis being one of the best drivers I've been blessed to watch over ~30 years of F1.

Also for me, its not so much Lewis vs Max, its anyone of the top guys duking it out. You rarely rarely get that in F1. Moto GP its all the time.

F1 is too much a Constructors Championship, but that's what it is, its about the cars, and whoever drives the best cars. The bikes are a lot more even so the racing is hard, close and action packed, its more a riders championship

But its all great

Ferrari says they are slow in the straights and slow in the corner and don't expect anything to be different in the near future

Interesting Ferrari performance took a dive after being investigated for engine irregularities...

F1 has both a constructors championship and a drivers championship, but it's the placing in the constructors championship that determines your cut of the winnings.

It's self setup to reward those that are doing well, and the likes of Ferrari have a higher cut too.

At some stage the situation will start to hurt companies that rely on sponsorship and coverage.  Mercedes are never going to want to change as they lead and get all the bragging rights, but I do wonder why those down below are even interested in coming in.  It's a horrendous money trap of a sport, and as fans get bored it does nothing to help any financial stance around it.

Bottom line is continuing dominance for any sport is not healthy, and that includes the likes of Rugby as well.  Most sports are more exciting when you introduce the unknown nail biting contest aspect, which could go either way, but we've not seen that in a long time.  Straight runs of top qualifying, pole position and leading every lap and race win become processional and predicktable and eventually boring.  This is now worse than the Schumacher Ferrari era.

With budget caps coming in, we should expect this to change in the next few years.
