You seriously can't make this up.  It's a long read, but the funniest thing I've read for awhile.  A short teaser:

I resent the force-fed aspect of soccer. The same people trying to push soccer on Americans are the ones demanding that we love HBO's "Girls," light-rail, Beyonce and Hillary Clinton. The number of New York Times articles claiming soccer is "catching on" is exceeded only by the ones pretending women's basketball is fascinating.

The tie in with Europe and the metric system is just gold.

It all comes down to the width of your thumb and the size of your belt. Awesome. Very well written. Almost had me convinced that metric was no good!

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

unfortunately this sums it up for me

Everyone just runs up and down the field and, every once in a while, a ball accidentally goes in. That's when we're supposed to go wild. I'm already asleep.

Involuntary autocorrect in operation on mobile device. Apologies in advance.

I'm not particularly interested in soccer (or any team sports really), but I don't go writing articles on things I'm not into.

WTF is wrong with that woman?
