hiya

I was just wondering what sorta frame rate the cameras at Super 14 matches use - i guess they're all recording at 25fps because of bandwidth/standards etc - or is that just downsampled by the broadcasting box ? just curious... if they caught the action at a higher framerate there wouldn't be as many crappy TMO decisions made on reviewing footage .

i wonder if aliens wonder if aliens wonder .

lets first have the refs use the TMO rather than making irrational choices that win and lose games. Yes i am a canes supporter still bitter that we were given the draw a few weeks back at home; more over it was the smirk on his face (the reff) as he left the field grrrr

on that occasion i don't think the ref needed the TMO - i think he just needed to open his eyes... Smith was blatantly held back

doesn't seem as if they use any high framerate cameras, even for the in goal shots. At least that is what I guessed from something they showed on Reunion last night.

that is sooo budget of ... whomever does the broadcasting . if the NZRFU wanna get some more eyes on screens then they have to move the game forward technologically - make it more attractive . when cricket started showing replays in 60fps+ i was drooling .

I reckon... the first time I saw how the bat actually twisted in the batsmans hands at impact was amazing. Hotspot is another really cool piece of technology that Channel 9 uses in their cricket coverage.

I realise they've probably got a far bigger budget than TVNZ or Sky to spend on that kind of thing, but our sports coverage still looks decidedly second rate when comparing them.
