I must admit that after recent coverage of the tennis, my passing interest in Tennis is much more of an interest after seeing almost every day, one player or another having a blow up.

Can't people control themselves?

I know it happens in other sports, but boy oh boy per head of capita, it feels like Tennis is worse than most other sports.

Perhaps the head of Tennis needs to read the riot act to the players the way the head of the NRL did recently.

These people are paid good money for what they do. Some might be entertained, but I'd rather let the sport do the entertaining.

Disgraceful.

Blow ups are awesome - part of the game.

Minor/no consequences for players when they abuse umpire - that puzzles me. Give them 6 month ban or something.

I hate when people cry after/during match, should that be banned too?

I can watch reality TV with their over dramatisation any day on any channel. I want professionals to play their best tennis (or sport in general) without all the tantrums. Rarely does it help a player play better. None of us are immune to the occasional outburst in frustration, but I'd be embarrassed to behave in such a manner.

They are akin to the Hollywood fall downs in that football version the uses an oddly round ball.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

we are long way from robots playing tennis or any other competitive sport.

i'd say join any sport club tennis, rugby, football, squash, etc and try playing against better player and I'd like to watch you hold your emotions :D we are not robots yet. some are better at holding nerves than others. I'm on the other side :)

thats why: ice hockey fights, football chats, rugby fights, tennis smashes, etc

we are HUMANs for gods sake!

Thats pretty much it. Rugby has its multi person brawls, Ice hockey is legendary, cricket is sledging. I watch plenty of tennis, outbursts aren't the norm, unless you are an overrated idiot like Kyrgios. Most sports don't have the mental and physical intensity of tennis where a match can last for 4 to 5 hours. AO had a couple of incidents, bag throw and smashed racket, no big deal, they will be fined.

I once read, a while back, that John McEnroe used to throw tantrums just to put his opposition off. I am sure to some small degree that could be true, even today. Its all about the mental game as well as the physical skill game.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I play competitive squash (though right now I am injured) occasionally you find someone who can't control their frustration, it's happened to me from time to time, but I am not a highly paid professional and it doesn't happen with anywhere near the regularity or intensity that some of these tennis brats are carrying on.

Might be ok with you, but it isn't ok with me. In Squash matches that type of behaviour is dealt with pretty quickly and effectively. If they started awarding penalty strokes/games/matches for the more outrageous behaviour, then it would stop.

We had a guy at one of the clubs who was suspected of doing the same thing. He was warned twice (once nicely and then the second time with a warning about what would happen with continued behaviour) and then asked to leave the club. He no longer plays.

Fining players is utterly ineffective. Stopping them from playing, stripping them of points and rankings, it works.
