I *hate* shopping and getting dragged by the nose through malls but make an exception for this one. Have everything (apart from the mega sports barn which closed down) and I can get about 2 year's worth of shopping done in a day and not have to darken a shop doorstep for two years.

Been there, done that, the Outlets in Vegas were better. I think Hawaii has higher tax as well.

Also booze, as much as you can.

2 litre top shelf is $20-$25 you can get it from the WalMart.

Yeah probably! Vegas is bound to be bigger/better as it gets all the CA drive in traffic as well as the worldwide fly-ins, ginormous conferences etc (although Honolulu sales tax is 4.5% vs. Vegas 8.25%)

But on the plus side Hawaii is relatively cheap to get to, shorter non stop flight and is gorgeous.

Unless they are on sale, most electronics appear to be similarly priced to in NZ. What is different is the variety. That is the reason I just picked up a Google home mini and an echo dot.
AV gear is way cheaper but you have the power supply to worry about.

@kryptonjohn I am interested to hear what is good at Waikele.

Except in the Black Friday sales, mainland US has greater variety and is cheaper than Hawaii (or Alaska).

Also because they price everything at $X.99 once tax is added, it goes to just over the dollar and if you pay with cash you end up with a handful of confusing coins that are useful for almost exactly nothing.

Waikele has the usual stuff: I usually go to straight the Polo and Hilfiger shops and load up on polo shirts, pants and shorts. 1/4 the NZ price and lasts for years. I learnt to avoid the Polo and other apparel branded shoes - they are always crap that falls apart in 6 months. But there's Ecco etc for quality shoes. Then over to Nike and Adidas stores to get some golf attire and shoes. Can't remember if there was a Bose store there... but I went to one in CA and there were some great deals.

Sports Authority was the sporting outlet - but sadly its gone under.

Tommy Bahama had some cool clothes, most of which I still wear regularly 4 years on!

The sunglasses places for sunnies that you'd pay 2-3 times as much, the prices are expensive but the discount book gives a massive discount :)

Make sure you pickup the discount book on the way in, if you catch the bus they give it to you.

Okay, so there is a Nike outlet there? Didn't see it in the shop list. My son is a Nike fan so may be worth a look.
Just tossing up whether to buy another Google Home Mini at $US30 before heading home as I see they are $AUD79 in Oz at the moment so the equivalent of $NZ45 is just too tempting.

Hmmm, It's been a couple of years since I was there. I'm sure there was Nike but maybe mixing it up with somewhere else.

Yes and it ended up even better because of the $US10 gift card that came with the first Mini (Black Friday promotion) the second only cost $US21.
Pity Black Frirday Isn't every Friday (price wise at least).

Most things are cheaper in the U.S. when you know where to look.

Look at stuff you want to buy here (in the medium term) then compare the price over there. I personally have a "To Buy" list, in general, and check before I travel to see whether its worth buying in the place I'm traveling to.

The last couple times in the U.S. I got a previous generation iPhone from local Craigslist for about half the retail price. You do have to do your homework and know what to look for (and make sure it's factory unlocked etc), but you can get a really good deal.
